I am going to order some 6" x 1/2" x 1/4" polishing stones.
Are the "EDM" worth the little extra costs over "Silcone Carbide"?
MSC has 80 to 1000 grit (different types) I was going to get one of each
Thanks

EDM is the general category of the stones. Some are Sic and some are aluminum oxide or other abrasives. The SiC will last at least twice as long as the A/O.

Congress Tools has higher grits in SiC then MSC.

I have not used the boride stones yet, have you used them yet? I have only used SiC, A/O and novaculite. The more I use stones the more I like them and plan on using as many types as I can get ahold of.

I am about to place an order for some of the AM-8 stones to experiment. I just mailed off some blades for HT today, so I shall see in about 2 weeks.
