  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Which Randall should I get?

I have had Models, 14, 14 minim, 27, 27 mini, 8 B&T Old Style, Gambler, and LL Bean Pathfinder. The Model 8 was the best user. If i get another it be a Model 5 7" blade in SS, with Stag and brass. That is based on my intended usage of said knife. I only still have the Gambler and the LL bean. The bean would be a good user as it is a well designed, strong sharp knife, but it is more of a collector knife, the Gambler is not intended for camping, IMHO. Which leads me to the 5-7.

Is this the correct thread to get assistance on dating a Randall? If so, I bought this 13-6 at an estate sale. Most of the knives the man had collected were from the 70’s and 80’s but he had a few more recently made knives too. Any help would sure be appreciated. I’ve looked at the tang stamp charts you can easily find on Google but to be honest I can’t make heads or tails out of them.

That 5 spacer arrangement is late 70's - mid 80s. Sheath fits that range too.

Model 1 7 “ is the iconic one. 6” is a handy size 8” is pretty big. 7” is the sweet spot same as a KA-BAR.
