Which RAT would you take backpacking?

Thanks J, I may try one. My only issue is that the RC4 should do everything I need and more. Not sure what I would use the RC3 for. If I didnt have the RC4, it may be a different story.

I hike alot in the everglades and i ALWAYS have my rc-4! Its def my best friend while in the woods =)

Dude thats a very good point. I had an RC4 at one point, but sold it. I probably wouldnt have bought an RC3 if I hadnt sold it......

if you dont havea big knife or axe then maybe use the rc5 or 6. if you do have one id bring the rc3

I just attached my new RC-4 to the side of my MaxPed Condor 2 backpack.

It will be carrying it on all my hiking trips from now on.

I think that this is a personal choice whereby you choose the RAT that best fits your hand and intended purpose. Are you planning to do bushcrafting, heavy chopping, etc.? Are you taking just one blade or will you have a back-up? I personally like to hike with a smallish blade and a big chopper for extended trips. YMMV

Most of the time I carry several knives when I'm out.

But again the situation will dictate what and how many, as weight is also a consideration.

I carry the RC 4 when backpacking, I take just one knife to save on weight. If out on a day trip, I take the 4 and 5 just for fun.

I like my RC-5. I do take it with me backpacking. I'm not worried that it weighs in with a few extra grams. It's sturdy as hell. I really like it.

When I go out I tend to bring my RC-3mil and my RC-5 I never seem to need more then that as far as knifes go

I backpack with the RC3.
