Which SAK do you like best?

I guess my favortie is the Swisschamp but lately I've been carrying a silver alox Farmer w/saw or a Yeoman. If I really want to go minimalist I carry a Scientist. Just ordered 3 more Scientists thanks to UnknownVT.

Here are 3 of my favorite 91mm SAKs. I've been carrying Climbers for a little over 20 years and like it the best - I like having a saw but I've always been able to get along without it.

I agree w/ Y.C. – SWISSTOOL!

Some runners up -

Hunter (locking blade w/ saw and small gutting blade).

Ranger (about the biggest I would carry in a pocket).

Fieldmaster or Huntsman

Hiker or Camper

Farmer/Pioneer 4.

LOL, yea I figured you would come in and take a look. Too bad Mr. Lewis stoped doing that work. I would love to get a SAK tricked out like that. Are you aware of anyone else doing that work now? Also hows that Alox Bantam? Is it really as thin as it looks, and does that combo can/bottle opener work as good as the individual ones?
-Kevin

The Bantam is about the same thickness as one scale on a Soldier. It's very thin.

Paul

It's as small as the Alox scale on my soldier!? or as small as one of the levels plus the scales?? Either way, thats thin indeed!
-Kevin

My mistake, it's as thin as both scales on the Soldier. Like I said, it's very thin.

Paul

That really is thin! Have you had any use of the combo tool on it? If so how does it compare to the individual ones? Thanks again.

The Alox Bantam is very slim/thin -

How thin?

Here's a pic comparing the Alox Bantams (middle 2) with two more standard SAKs -

My 2 Alox Bantams are older models with parallel ribbing (with and without keyring) - but the international/swiss model # is the same -
they are about ~0.2" thin.

Yes, the combo tool I find as easy to use as the standard separate can-opener, bottle-opener.

Certainly the bottle cap-lifter is every bit as good as the standard separate tool.

There is debate to which can-opener is "better" - but neither are as good as a regular kitchen can-opener - so the debate is really moot.

Both can-openers will do the job reasonably well, if a proper can-opener is not available, because I certainly would not choose either over a regular kitchen can-opener.

I really like Vic SAKs that have this "combo" tool (as the small blade replacement) it has almost all the functionality of the 2 separate tools, but saves one backspring width.

The combo bottle/can opener also works for both slotted and phillips screws.

Paul

Explorer. The phillips on end and magnifiers do it for me. I like the camper and rambler, too. Would like to get a pioneer, and the lock-back hunter one of these days. So much to choose from...:)
