I've been on a SAK kick lately and it's been really fun. I already had a Deluxe Tinker and an Alox cadet and I recently bought more a Huntsman, an Explorer, a Wenger Evolution S10, and a Wenger Highlander plus I have a Victorinox Classic on the way. I want to try out some more SAK's what would you guys suggest I try next?

ALOX Pioneer/Farmer/Soldier!!!!!!

It's funny you'd say that because I was just looking at some alox models.

The big ALOX SAKs are a tough act to follow in the versatility/durability dept!

I walked out the door without my Pioneer last week and as the screen door slammed shut, the lock engaged (very old screen door). I had a nice traditional old folder that I wouldn't risk damaging so I walked around till I found something to carefully jimmy it open...I rediscovered the value of an EDC knife with extras like a screwdriver blade that I had taken for granted for so long.

Cant go wrong with a pioneer, but I say get a Farmer.

I would have agreed with this before 2008, but if a saw is important to the user, the OHT/New Soldier is the one to have. Farmer saw, good (for a SAK); OHT, great(for a SAK). Most of us usually know when in our daily lives there is going to be the possibility of a saw being needed, and prepare for it. In those situations, we can put up with a slight more bulk. But for just out and about almost anywhere, especially in an urban setting, the Pioneer is all you need. No point in packing the extra thickness. Leave room for another EDC gadget. :)

Can't argue with that logic.

The aloxes are definitely great. You already have some great cellidor ones, but I think in 91mm the Compact is outstanding. For small size, I think the Manager is much better than the Classic. At 111mm, give the Outrider a try - I think it's the best SAK of them all.

I agree the look and durability of the alox saks are hard to beat. As far as another one for you to try: I've always liked the victorinox camper

The Alox Farmer is a go-to whenever I grab one of my packs. Daily carry at the office has been quite nice with the Alox Electrician. I have a bit of a growing collection myself. They're like Pringles, man.

Not trying to argue just want to convey my thoughts. For me I think having the saw is worth it as you never really know when you are going to need it. Some might need it more often in a urban situation and some might never use it, but even having it in that one situation where it saves the day is reason enough to carry it in my opinion. That is the whole philosophy behind carrying a SAK isn't it? Being prepared for situations you do every day as well as the ones you do not expect. This is just my opinion and everyones need and wants are different and are fine in there own rights. Just the fact of having any SAK on you tells me you are thinking ahead.

I have to disagree with you on the saw being better on the OHT. SAK saws rule all in the knife/MT world. Again this is just my opinion, but in my experience the majority rules on that one.

Either way you cant go wrong between the Pioneer or Farmer. Both are excellent knives. Now thats a fact. :D

I'm thinking of getting both to be honest.
