Which Scotch?

I wanted to get into scotch, and probably started the wrong way (cheap). Before I came into the military, my buddy bought some 15 year scotch for us to drink... and I still couldn't wrap my taste buds around it.

This will probably seem like blasphemy, but I recently decided to try my hand at entering the world of fine liquor again and bought a bottle of Courvoisier VSOP. I know it's not Louis XIII, but I didn't want to break the bank. I really dig it and will probably begin to take monetary steps up the ladder as I finish each bottle.

My point is, Cognacs taste is what I was looking for in scotch. I guess I need the sweetness :o

Good luck on your scotch endeavors!

If you havn't tried Scotch, maybe its better not to. When I think of all the money I spent on Scotch over the years..... well maybe it wasn't such a bad investment knowing how good it is.:)

It will keep you going back for more.

After seeing this point made a couple of times, maybe I will hold off for now.:p

If you want to treat yourself try Lagavulin - it's hard to find, I usually have to order it but it is available - it's about $70 a bottle - but it's well worth it!!!

Oban works for me or if you like the peaty side, Laphroaig ain't bad:D

Glenmorangie Traditional with a touch more water than usual. Very yum.

I like the bigger tastes. Laphroaig is another good one.

I am a huge fan of 15 year old Glenfiddich and Balvenie Double Wood. They're the same company; Glenfiddich is the name of the valley where they're located and Balvenie is the name of the castle ruins on the property. I believe Glenfiddich is the best selling single malt scotch in the world (not the US--that I believe is Glenlivet) and Balvenie was started to try to meet demand for their product.
