Which side of your folder is the clip screwed to?

I can't post pics with current membership (I don't think) so visualize this for me . . .
I've also searched this question, but did not find specific answers to the same.
Please link me to a thread that talks of my question if you know of one.

My question is: Whats your preference? Clip on top or clip on bottom?
I have two Osbornes sitting on table in front of me.
One has clip on top and knife opens to left.
The other has clip on bottom and knife also opens to left (they seem to ship this way).

Of course I know its a personal preference, but my Son and I always seem to agree to disagree on which side the clip goes on for the easiest draw to the ready position.

When carrying and clipped to my right pocket (for me) tip up is a given. Son and I agree on that.
Most of my folders have holes on either side for the clip. So when I draw my knife right handed from my right pocket my clips are on top because the blades swing open from the left side and I dont have to fiddle around to flip them over to release the blade which is now in position to flick the thumb stud.

He said he prefers clips on bottom as he does not like the feel of a clip in his palm. This is true, as I noticed each clip is bent with spot to fit your 2nd finger in from index finger which doubles as a tab to pick clip up a little, so it doesn't wear out my dress pants. Jeans, I just push the clip down into the pocket without picking clip up a little first) and that bend is also what holds it to the fabric.
But then as you are drawing knife out of your pocket you have to first flip the knife "over" in order to open it.

The way I've been used to attaching the clips to my pocket is clip on top of knife, start drawing knife from pocket and knife is already on the correct side to flip open either with a spydie hole or a thumb stud etc. The clip on top seems to reside in a space in my clenched hand, so it does not bother me.

I also have a BM 490 Arcane sitting in front of me. If I keep clip on bottom, then as with my other flippers, I have to rotate the knife 180 degrees to reach the assist blade release lever when pulling it from my pocket.

I'm probably doing it all wrong but . . . What say you?

Use Tip-Up and Tip-Down carry as terms, that way you'll find threads and people get what you mean ;)

I actually did use tip up term for search before I posted my question. I did not find any "which side of knife" do you have your clip on. I'll try again.

I prefer tip-up so when I pull it out I'm ready rock.

Make sure it's in the palm of your hand (the clip not the tip <---do not replave the P's with T's) for best feeling grip and easiest cleanup.

(the clip not the tip <---do not replave the P's with T's)

I had to look up "replave" as thats not a word I've come across: http://www.spellcheck.net/misspelled-words/replave

Could you re-word that so I can get the jist of what you are saying . I got the tip up part, thats a given. Are you saying you prefer the clip on top as you are drawing folder from your pocket?

Frightening. Really.

you are confusing the crap outta me with this top and bottom, left and right speak.

for tip up carry, right hand user, carrying in right hip pocket - this is where the clip goes.
you can reverse it if you want, thats the beauty of personal preferences, but you might be hard pressed to convince anybody to do the same

Ya, thats the way my BM's arrived from the store. Its just I find clip on that side I have to pull it out and then rotate it 180 degrees to pop the blade. I think its 2nd nature for most of you who carry it that way. Not saying its wrong as its just a personal preference as you say . . . I figure though I can't be the only one who has his clip facing up as I pull the knife from my pocket. Just wondering if there are more of us out there?

I think your terminology is a bit confusing. All clips face up as you pull the knife from your pocket, whether tip up or tip down. You know the knife goes INSIDE your pocket and not outside right? See this thread:

Of course they face up in order to clip it to your pocket. I don't see why its confusing because there are clip holes on "both" sides of most knifes. First Im talking always tip up here. Depending on which side you have your clip screwed into the knife it puts the blade either facing to the left side or the right side. My point is if clip is on the bottom "after" you pull it out then you had flipped the knife 180 degrees in order to open it. Im sure most don't even realize they are having to turn the knife 180 degrees as its just a natural motion when the clip winds up on the bottom after you flip the blade out.

If the knife is pulled out like mine is set up with the clip ending up on top of the knife I can flip open the blade in the same fluid motion and not having to twist my wrist 180 degrees as my finger is already on the thumb stud. I find this handy too when I'm in a bad neighborhood and I pull the knife up to release it from my pants and then keeping my hand on it push it down into my pocket for a faster ready position. Not trying to be a wise guy here or frustrate the regulars . . .

Just spit balling my conversation about clips and carrys that I had with my Son since we carry same pocket, but our clips are screwed into opposite sides of our knifes.

I must be the only one who carries like this?

Stop saying the clip is on the bottom, and say that you carry tip up! Your description is confusing with the blade pointing left, pointing right etc. lol So which one of the pics I posted above do you have your clip configured to?

It is confusing. If I am understanding correctly you are carrying tip up with the clip on the wrong side of the knife so the spine of the blade is not against the seam of your pants if you are carrying in rfp.

That is potentially dangerous, especially with an axis lock knife. Bm recommends the spine of the blade always be against a seam to prevent accidental opening of the somewhat weak detented axis lock. You should be doing this no matter how you orient you clip, tip up or down, or where you clip your knife.

its like the green and brown one except my clip is attached on the “opposite side”. You should “move on” from this thread if what im asking is to hard for you to contemplate as i can see you are getting testy. buh bye
