Which sodbuster?

I am interested in possible sodbusters, so I was wondering if there are any opinions on the Case sodbuster vs. Eye brand (german, forged steel according to their etching). What about the Boker, or any other brands, which of these would you recommend? Also, stainless or carbon? ( I have a slight bias towards less maintenance against rust and for shiny finishes)

Thanks for any responses.

Overall F&F, Case has been #1. Eye-Brand is very good, also. I'm not picky with the steels either. SS and carbon have both performed well for me. Good luck.

Thanks. In my online search, someone said F&F of an eye brand was a little rough. I was thinking the forging might make the steel a little better, but maybe Case is the way to go.

I don't got one yet, but a Queen Sodbuster is on my want list.

mmmmm....D2.

I was curious about D2 as well, but that orange peel texture is definitely kind of strange. A couple years back, I was eyeing that Benchmade Activator+ Snody, which looked pretty functional. Fixed blades just don't have much of a place in a big city though. It's a real shame.

I have a Case sodbuster jr and a large Eye Brand and small Eye Brand. Overall, the Case has better fit & finish, but Eye Brand has a better blade grind.

I have a Case CV, Queen D2 and a Eye Brand carbon steel Sodbuster. The Case has excellent fit and finish as is the Queen. The Eye Brand is a little less finished but exceptable. The new Eye Brand is not up to the knives of a few years back but are still ok. The Queen has a strong backspring but not bad. The Case or Queen are both nice but Queen has my pet peeve of thick butter knife edges. Either would be good choice.

Just grab for yourself a Case sodbuster, in whatever flavor suits you, and don't sweat it. They are high quality and not spendy, and you can branch out from there.

Case EyeBrand and also German Bull all have been excellent knives in my collection. You can get a Case SS Sodbuster at Lowes for $18.00. You will be happy which ever way you go.

How about a German Bull, I've heard good things about them.

That's a Frost China made knife.(just sayin');)Id stick with Case or Queen. If you want to experiment with a China line. The Rough Rider is very good. They even have a liner lock along with strong "snap".

Bulldog has the same knife as the Eye Brand at a little lower price point. I like the flat grips a little better than the rounded myself, but a matter of preference.

I like the Queen Country Cousin in D2.But,if your knife sharpening skills are'nt up to task you might opt for the Case. That D2 is some tough stuff and takes some time to get sharp.Once the edge is reprofiled though it's worth it.

I've never been blwon away by sodbusters but I just got one, a German Bull in stag, and I must say I really like it. Very good quality at a good price.

I'm a sucker for simple designs. Although traditional slippies never interest me, I find myself warming up to sodbusters due to their simplicity. If I can find one that's not so darn thick, I'd probably take the plunge.

I have Cases in CV and SS...CV is the best.
Just wish Case would make a yellow CV soddie flipper with liner lock...then I'd quit buying knives. :)
