I read the stickies, but they just talk about how to, not what with. My wife got me a propane torch for my birthday (I have a great wife). I want to use it to solder bolsters and guards on carbon steel. What kind of solder and flux do I need? I assume I do this post HT, careful not to overheat the blade end?

I use acid flux in the bottle, careful it is strong dont get it in your eyes or on your clothes it will eat through both. Also get some regular ol solder you get in the hardware store for copper pipes, make sure it is NOT reisn core, to practice with. Learn to Tin the metals your working with, Stainless is a hard metal to tin. Alot of makers also use stay-brite and stay-clean flux, pretty much the same thing (will stay shiny longer)just costs a bit more, the stay brite also comes in smaller sizes.
