Which Spyderco are you carrying today?

Just got my Temperance Sprint today. This thing is a beast with the Spyderedge. The serrations are perfect (short and shallow). It's scary sharp out of the box. The contoured FRN handle feels great. I can't wait to put it to use. Cruwear ought to make for a great outdoor/camp knife.

I had been on the fence on this one for awhile, but ultimately the price for this sprint was too good to pass up. This is a killer deal at MAP of $142. I'm glad I pulled the trigger before they're all gone.

The Temperance is an amazing knife at a great price. It’s hard to believe they’re still available. I went with PE, but it was a hard choice. That SE CruWear is going to be a BEAST! Mine lives with my Jeep’s recovery gear, as my outdoor gear tends to get wet & stainless is preferred. I would LOVE this exact knife in a tough stainless like Magnacut, AEBL, 14c28n, etc. If the price stayed reasonable, I’d buy one for each member of my family—especially in Magnacut. <<are you listening, Sal? hehehe>>

I took the Mantra 4 apart because I am compelled by an unknown force to disassemble new knives and see how they work.

There is a single nested liner. The blade runs on ball bearing washers. And there are internal stop pins on both sides of the blade tang. The stop pins run inside tracks that have been milled out of the G10 liners. There is a stainless steel washer that is glued to the the inside of the non-liner scale to act as a race for the ball bearings on that side.

Oh NOW you've done it .
:)
PS : don't try this with a Boker Urban Trapper (one of my all time favorite / grail knives) . . . unless you are very good at herding cats and handling ball bearings that are so tiny they can slip through the weave in cloth .
Don't ask how I know this .
