Which Spyderco are you carrying today?

^^ How do you like the Foundry? I'm thinking of picking one up.

The Foundry is a good knife that packs a surprisingly large blade with lots of belly in a slim and compact package. Heavy for its size, which is to be expected from the all steel construction, but it locks up like a bank vault with a satisfyingly solid click. Thin profile but wide enough to get a comfortable grip. The handle ergonomics are excellent, but not much room to spare--might be a problem for XL hands to get a full four-finger grip. There is a slight hotspot where the index finger meets the space between the frame and lockbar, and another at the ring-finger where it meets the corners of the lockbar relief. Not a huge deal though.

Mine is a bit off center, biased to the presentation side, but no blade rub. I don't like the domed screwhead on the lockbar stabilizer; makes me think that if I correct the blade lean, I might have clearance issues with the stabilizer screw (remember: it is a thin knife.) I also think that Spyderco could have made better use of the wire clip if the knife seated deeper in pocket.

Although the Foundry is a very functional folder, I think there are better options for a dedicated work knife and/or for EDC use. But I really dig the extremely cool and clever idea behind it: a tribute to Carpenter and a showcase of their steels... in a folder! I would love to see Spyderco release more 'Foundry' knives based on other steel companies.

Anyway, I've babbled on long enough. :o Hope this helps. :)

With the LW Manix options so far being BD1, XHP, S110V and Maxamet it was a no brainer for me to pick this up. It would be the ultimate backpacking knife it was in a brighter color. XHP is a great all around stainless steel. Do it! Pull the trigger man! :)

I have one coming today (or tomorrow) in BD1. If I dig it I may pull the trigger on the XHP model. :)

Endura with the wave today. Might want to carry my Szabo to show off to my friends though.
