Which Spyderco are you carrying today?

Just changed out the steel bearing for a ceramic one and oiled the pivot.Everything is smoother now

I'm currently carrying the Byrd Cara Cara 2 Emerson that I just received from Spyderco.

I don't care that it's made in China and "only" uses 8Cr13Mov steel, it's a nice knife.

It's extremely light, the pattern on the FRN is "grippy" w/o being uncomfortable, the shape of the handle is fits perfectly in m hand, the jimping in the choil and on top of the blade make choking up on the blade very secure/comfortable and the design of the Emerson tab is perfect for smooth and quick deployment from my pocket (as good or better than any other Emerson type folder that own).

On top of that is only costs $37.80 at retail.

It's far from my favorite knife (out of the over 330+ knifes, including over 125+ Spydercos that I own) but for a general purpose EDC and for possible SD use, you can do a lot worst buying something more expensive.

Gotta ask if the lanyard is there for aesthetics or to use... seems like it wouldnt be too useful for tip down carry?
It really does both. I wanted to add Seahawk green to it, and I use it as additional grip at the end of the knife.

Here in The Evergreen State blackberry vines have choked up our wilderness with Briar patches. Deer and other Wildlife live in our yards because they can't freely roam in the forests. Anywhere you go there are blackberry vines reaching out and ripping up your legs and arms with their thorns. I have grown accustomed to carrying a knife to chop at these Vines to prevent them from snagging you as you walk on trails or in Parks or campsites it's just something you need to do.
The most effective way to chop of Vine is to hold the knife with two fingers and chop with your wrist. The lanyard gives you extra purchase and security while doing that. So I put lanyards on all knives.
