Which Spyderco dealers ship outside the USA?

A question for the Spyderco fans living outside the USA. Which online dealers do you use? Who has good priced knives and reasonable shipping costs?

I checked New Graham and Knifeworks. Both charge around $30 to post one knife :grumpy:

I have bought from Lighthound.com in the past but they have a pretty limited selection to choose from.

Any suggestions would be good, Thanks.

I'm used to knifeworks, however, as you say, $30 is a lot of money when you just buy a ladybug. So I buy them stuff when I have enough to buy them, like 3-4 knives and some other stuff (maxpedition pouche(s), sharpener(s)...)

The only other way I know is eBay. If you find a website with a decent selection and low shipping fees, please tell us, I'm sure we are not the only two interested.

Ask NGK to ship it through USPS 1st class international. Then it's around $10 (to ship a folder). But it's uninsured. $30 is usually price of insured USPS Global Express.

P.S. there is also this shop that sends internationally but I haven't dealt with them.

I'm pretty happy with the service I get at bestknives.com. They've also been pretty flexible when it comes to shipping.

What do you mean by "outside U.S.A."? do you mean overseas or just Canada?

Australia (I've just added it to my profile)

To which country? I don't recall New Graham overcharing me for shipping.

I just checked again and I think I was wrong about NGK charging $30. The problem there is they now only except Wetern Union for internationl orders which incure expensive fees ( http://www.newgraham.com/faq.aspx ).

The places I looked at that wanted $30 minimum were:

I was just on the USPS website and these are their rates for shipping a 1 pound package to Oz:

That's where I got the above info from. Not hard to find, just got search a little. See what you come up with once you play with the weights, delivery dates, etc.

Thanks sixfoot7. I am aware of the prices and have had numerous knives and flashlights sent from the USA from Ebay sellers, forum members and shops like Lighthound.com. It is not the price that USPS charge that is the problem it is finding a knife shop with a good selection who is prepared to use the cheaper shipping options and accept CC or paypal.

Like other suggested you need to buy a lot in one hit to justify $30 shipping.

17mhr, which items are you looking for? Online dealers cut their margins pretty tightly, so they sometimes have to be selective about what they carry.

I've some experience of online Spyderco dealers and international shipping at this point, so i may be able to offer some useful advice.

Thanks. At the moment looking at Mini-Manix PE , Tenacious PE and set of Diamond rods for the Sharpmaker.

I have bought from Lighthound in the past but they have sold their last Mini Manix and can't get more and the Tenacious is not due there until April.

The Tenacious is just starting to trickle through. I'm pretty sure Spydieguys.com have the rods and the Tenacious.... and they'll happily ship internationally by letter post.
I've made 3 or 4 orders with them and am happy enough with them. They forget to declare the full value sometimes. Ooops!

However I'm hard pressed to think of a dealer that has the (new) Tenacious and the (discontinued) Mini-Manix as well.

Since it's discontinued (and apparently was more popular than the full sized Manix) I'd suggest you concentrate on finding a dealer who will ship a Mini-Manix to you for a low rate, and worry about the other items later.

There's a Texas based seller on a certain auction site who has a PE Mini Manix available, and will ship abroad by letter post.
I bought a Poliwog from them at the end of last year and they were reliable enough. There weren't any obvious markings on the envelope... i think they forgot to declare the full value as well. :-)

Sixfoot7 listed the various international services provided by USPS.
I'll avoid any dealer who uses First-Class Mail® International. It's an absolute joke for 'air mail', is untrackable, and my last parcel by that means took 5 weeks, no signature required. My local postie delivered it to the wrong address, and it was bought to my front door by children. Not good enough for $300+ worth of knives! Fedex has been my best experience by far... Usually about a week from the US to Oz, excellent assistance with customs issues, and fully trackable.

Has anyone got any experience, either positive or negative, of a company called Tinker's Knives? Please PM me rather than discuss this on-list. A shipment inlcuding a Spyderco Forager was allegedly sent on Jan 29th, but the tracking number given results in the response: "There is no record of this item."
Hardly confidence inspiring...

I'm in Sydney and have used NGK for lots of knives. Very reliable and great service.

They accept credit cards.

NGK looks pretty good, as far as range and price - BUT now they'll only do business paid for by means of Western Union - no good to me! :(
