Which Spyderco, or other to start with for a ~$50 EDC

The Native is the only mentioned knife made in the USA (and is $40 at Wal-Mart). The other knives are made in Japan, but Japan and Taiwan are great places and the people there make great products (just like some companies in the USA).

I just picked up a Native yesterday as an impulse purchase at Walmart (in Northeastern CT). This is my first Spyderco. My other edc folder is a Kershaw Vapor, which is excellent for a knife in its low price range, but not in the same league as the Native.

The edge is frighteningly keen, the blade is centered and opens/closes with precision, and it feels like a high quality tool. I like the comfortable grip, the choil at the base of the blade, and the broad blade shape. This ought to make for a stout, versatile knife.

One difficulty is that I am not used to its tip-up position when clipped to my pocket. There has been a bit of fumbling with it as I grow accustomed to tip-up carrying.

I already check couple places like Ansonia and Naugatuck, they don't have it and even after I gave them bar code still can not order or find one in CT.
So if you will find please, let me know where.
Thanks

Oh yeah - I got mine at the Walmart in Lisbon (exit 84 on I-395) just north of Norwich. Maybe it's worth the drive to you to handle one in person.

OK so now I know one WalMart in CT that has them, because Cromwell and Newington do not. Maybe I will have to swing by Lisbon the next time I am down in Bozrah.

More info. I called 1-800-Walmart and told them that I am looking for Native and it is not available at my local Wal-Mart, also I gave them bar code. Today at 7:30 in the morning somebody called me from my local store that they special ordered it for me and I can pick it up. If you will need scan from SKU I can e-mail.
I tried to post it here but I was not able.

After looking around some more I have come up some more ideas. First, I only want a knife with a plain edge. Second maybe I should look into discontinued or used knives.
Benchmade 350: I have found some places online that has them for $50, and it seems like a quality replacement that is close in design to my Gerber Mini-Covert.
OR
Try to find a used Spyderco Para-Military. This is really the Spyderco that I want the most. 3 inch blade, G-10 handles, S30V steel, compression lock..... oh yeah that is my knife.

Maybe a Spyderco Centofante III cause I like the looks.

This search is getting narrowed down

This discontinued model search is yeilding some really interesting results. Two models specifically are the Benchmade 885 or 856. I really like the design of them and they come with the lovely G-10 handles I am looking for. AND at some places like New Graham Knives they are $50 or $60, but come with Combo edges, so I either need to keep looking or maybe compromise on getting a combo edge. So many knives and so little money.

From my own experience I would always say that if you are actually in the lucky position to know exactly what you want, go out and buy it even if it is more expensive than you had initially planed to spend, even if you have to save up for it. In the end it turns out to be a lot cheaper because if you buy something else, you tend to end up with the one you really wanted to begin with anyways and with lot of spend money along the way....

Good luck with your search.
