So I think I'm going to get one. I read that they "accidentally" produced a batch run of them in s30v. I dont know much about the other steel.
Is the other steel better or should i get s30v since there is not as many and may become rare or more valuable?
Thanks

If you're looking for potential "future value" you're on your own, that's like asking which slot machine will turn your $100 into $200.....

As for blade steel, XHP is miles better than S30v, especially when both are made by Spyderco.

My real answer is S30V has good PR here. Although . . . I was literally carving on a steel part with my latest XHP Razel blade at work yesterday and it didn't chip or get dull.  Seriously. So you can't go wrong with XHP.

The same day I took my blade made from CPM-S110V to some rubber covered cloth things and cut them up and could not figure out how the blade could be noticeably dulled after having just sharpened it hair whittling the day before that.

Then it hit me the rubber stuff had some dirt, splashes of thin, dried, mud in a couple of places. That must have been it. No steel can make up for a momentary laps in attention and good judgement. :o :grumpy:

Why didn't the XHP blade dull ? It wasn't trying to cut rock harder than it was but merely cutting steel that was significantly softer than the blade. ;)

PS: my BS-and-conversation-answer would have to be :
Buy both and mail me the one you don't like. ;) :D

I like the way you think Bagger!!! To the OP.......send the one you don't want to me instead.....Bagger has way too many knives and won't really appreciate it as much as I would!!
In regards to value?? Who knows......go for the XHP!! Techno is a great knife!
