Which Spydie for EDC/SD use?

Although I like the Yojimbo as a SD knife I do prefer the Manix 80 for general utility. I did EDC the Yojimbo for a short while but I found the blade and the handle a bit to specialized and I was always somewhat afraid of damaging it. I prefer the Manix 80 as the handle offers me the best grip, the blade is more versatile and it does anything short of real abuse without having me worried about anything. The Lil T is supposed to be at least just as good but I didn't really like the grip enough to buy one. All of these knives are probably best carried in a knife only pocket.

I have another great Spyder that you can use as an ideal EDC and SD unit both. And I do wish that they would bring back a Spring Run of these with a newer/better blade. The old reliable C-50 Centofante II would be an excellent selection to cover both bases. It cuts like a surgical scalpel and would have superb tactical qualities as well.

A lot of time we overlook the obvious. This was a great model that ran for many years. And there was a reason that it ran for many years. The design was indeed ahead of it's time as a lot of Spyderco models obviously are. It's a model that has went into obscurity. You just don't hear much about it. But check it out and you will see what I mean.

I love my Yo as an EDC. It was my first Janich/Snody modern wharncliffe - now I also own a Ronin and two Sondy Benchmade wharnies.

It has no belly, so you can't skin with it. Otherwise - cut, cut, cut, cut, cut, cut, cut, cut, cut, cut, cut, cut, cut, cut, cut - pause for the easiest sharpening in the world, a straight edge - cut, cut, cut, cut, cut, cut, cut, cut, cut, cut, cut, cut, cut, cut, cut, cut, cut, cut. :D

With no doubt, the ZDP Caly jr. has my vote. A little under 3", and as sharp as they come. Very light and easy to carry. (That's if you can get your hands on one for a decent price.) If not, I'd say a Lil'T, JD Smith, Yojimbo, Persian.
