Which steel is better?

Yes, and 5160 is a really good fool proof steel for begginers. My comment above does read wrong now that I look it over again. I didn't mean to say that 5160 wouldn't cut, what I meant to say was that 5160 will perform best in blades meant for heavy work like chopping and cleaving. 1095, with its proeutectoid helpers will hold a keen edge for slicing type cutting.

If I was lost in the jungle with a pile of 1095, a pile of 5160, and a scalpel was needed or I had to make a skinning knife I would go with the 1095. If I had to make a machete to cut my way out of the jungle, I would use the 5160.

Folks, this is as big as I have. Enjoy it; I know I do. :D Hey, if you look closely, it has kind of a "Wootzy" look to it! ;) :D

Thanks for the clarification, Kevin. Good advice.

Danbo, that's just a real, real pity. :( :D I was hoping for more than just a screensize; I had a fantasy of an entire gallery.

I have to admit, I copied that and did my dangedest to blow it up and sharpen it up in Corel Painter. Just not enough pixels. A very disappointing "shucks". I would gladly welcome a Rigid calendar of that girl.

edited to add: oh, my, that's better. thank you, sir!!! ;)

Mike, if you wanna see more of this young lady, check your email(of course, you have to first list an email address). I'll send you the link to her "Educational" website. ;)

Dang, I'm excited! Thank you!!!! I likes em in skimpy clothes.....

edited to add: something's screwed up with the forum database. I checked it, and it says something about "For God's saKe, enter a valid email addy...." That would be oK except the address listed IS my valid email for the last 4-5 years. Whhen I plugged in the only PW I've ever had in order to re-enter it for grins, it comes back "You must enter a valid password for that email address." Something's not right....

Kelly Cupples sells that size for $3.95 a pound (13"). If you order $25 worth of steel he doesnt charge for shipping. He doesnt have a ton of different alloys or sizes but has very good prices for what he does have. His email is [font=arial,geneva]octihunter@charter.net
