Please help me understand the Strider variations. As far as I know there is a shorter model and a longer model and a few different steel variations. Which is the latest gen? Which one is considered the best to get for your fist Strider (IYO). Compression pictures would be great. THX

LEGO (slang for standard flat handle scales) SnG. IMO any SnG is gonna be an excellent SnG. Remember... Really bang it up or you'll never realize what it's about.

Here is a pic of the SnG

SnG has 3 body screws and the SMF has 4. (Disregarding pivot.)

I'm agreement with most; Standard/Lego SnG.

I'd have to agree, Lego SnG without a doubt. If you buy new, give it some time to break it. The beat the piss out of it

Great great great knife. I have my SnG CC in my pocket right now.

Oh, and for clarification, the SnG is smaller than the SMF. 3.5" and 4" blades, respectively.

I too prefer the lego variety. As for choosing which size, I say it would depend on what knives you currently own. If you have a lot of mid sized knives that you like, then you may want to get the larger SMF first.

My first Strider is the one shown in my Avatar. It's a SnG DGG DigiCam. I pampered it a lot because it was the most expensive knife I ever bought at the time (over $500). I still only carried it once to this day. I carry the hell out of the lego SMF I bought here on the forums though. In terms of ergos, the lego Striders are better, but they do fill up your pockets.

thanks for the response guys. SNG it is than wish I could handle lego and CC versions to see which would I prefer. I have S-M size hands.

smaller hands probably the sng....my larger hands fit perfectly on the smf. I like both the DGG and LEGO scales, but don't like the CC version at all. My preference is always towards larger knives so I'd do the smf, but ultimately you can't go wrong with anything that says Strider on it.....price point will likely dictate your choice or at least steer you towards nicer blades that have been previously loved!!

Does anyone here have both an SMF and a Hinderer XM-24? Can you post a pic of both together? Also an XM-18 3.5" and a SNG?

Thanks
