Well, it looks like I'm going to have to buy a Surefire flashlight, been putting it off as long as possible mainly because I can't decide which one. I'm thinking maybe the E2 unless you guys have a better idea. So what flashlight do my Busse Brothers carry ;):D

When chosing Surefires, battery consumption and expense is a factor. The E2 is a handy general purpose light -- call it the BA of Surefires. The BM would be the M-3 or M-6. But, by the time you feed it batts, you could have bought yourself another AS.

But... the one to have is the E2, with custom INFI barrel and bezel.

Only availible from the Busse Combat Light Custom Shop.
;) ;)

Eric,

What you want is the 6P with the rechargable conversion kit. I think the whole setup will put you back about $100.

Contact me offline if you want to try mine out before you buy. :)

Hey Eric have you seen the streamlight stylus? it is a LED that is the same size as a pen not real bright but the batteries last a 100 hrs.!!!Oh & I carry a 6z but the batteries are a little expensive(I know this sounds a little funny coming from guys that spend $$$$ on Busse knives):D

I know everybody loves Surefires, but I really like the Streamlight line. My wife and I both carry the Scorpion daily, rubber coated for a sure grip, tail-end switch can be used for momentary or continuous "on", and very bright. I keep a rechargeable PolyStinger for my bedside flashlight. I have both AC and DC quick chargers for this one.

Geez guys, thanks.... Now I'm worse off than I was...

None of you agree on the same one... ;)

Now I have to start all over again. ;):D:D

Eric,

surefires are like Busses...You need a few! One for the car, one for the bedroom, one to carry, and many more.

On that note my favorites are E1 and E2

Some Busse advice that applies to other quality tools "Just buy your first one and more will follow"

I know that is not much help, but I think you understand....

Bill

Ok, here is a newbie question. What's the difference between the E2 and the E2e.

Also Brian T email is incoming ;):D

We are issued the Streamlight Stinger flashlight at my work. The Streamlights seem to be pretty tough lights. I carry the 10x Surefire
for my own personal preferance (I like the option of 500 lumens when needed). Both are quality products....it's all about what you need/want.

I've got a Stinger, and will probably soon add a Scorpion and UltraStinger.
IMO, the Surefires have a higher quality beam, whiter, and more focused. Surefires seem a little "nicer", too. From what I've seen, the Streamlights reach out there better, and have the "continous on" that BOILER mentioned.
My buddy replaced his Stinger (which is now mine) that he carried on duty for four years with a SF Commander. The tailcap mounted switch is great, but he said he'd like to have the Stinger back. Fumbling to twist a ring to keep the light on might not seem like a big deal, but it could get him killed. Personally, I wouldn't have it, just because it's so inconvenient.
I'll take practical features over "nice" any day:p

Laptop bag carry E2. Home is the 6Z with the kicked up lamp assembly.

Blind the bastids...

Hope this helps.

Mike

E1 daily in pocket, M2 Centurion for bedside/camping/pack.
Check Surefires website because some time ago they were giving 20 or 25% off first purchases on the net.
I picked up an M95 UTL and a few dozen batteries for cheap:D
Surefires own batteries are the most reasonably priced available:)

Eric, the E2e is a smidge longer because of the new hex bezel. It also has a pyrex lens instead of lexan, and has a lock-out tailcap.

For Surefires, I own an E1e, E2, 6P, M2, M3, and I'm waiting on a 9AN.

My actual daily carry is the E2 with a Sebenza. (Don't want to scare anybody, do we? )

My toolkit or pack (since I don't carry a a briefcase for work) has my DWMS with a M2 with the P61 bulb, or sometimes the M3 with the M11 bulb. I'm planning on using the 9AN for alot of the general "stuff" I've been using the M2 or M3 for, since I won't have to feed it batteries. The M3/M11 will be the "bump in the night" light to compliment the Gov't Model.

I'd say go with the E2 or E2e, depending on if you need the specific features of either light. A bonus is that a lower output lamp assembly is due out around mid-year with a 25 or 30 lumen output for 150 minutes, and a digital controlled LED bezel is also due, with a high output LED that will last a gazillion hours with a runtime of, oh, maybe next Friday. A high output lamp is rumored, and is the conjectured reason for the pyrex lens on the E2e, since it will take the higher heat produced.

With the basic E2 or E2e platform, you can compliment it with the new lamp assemblies for a complete modular system. Some of the other Surefires will also have LED bezels available, and you can put together a light system. However, the best light to have is the one that you'll always have with you. The E2s are small and discrete that it's almost easy to remember that you don't have it with you. Until you need it, that is.

Surefire's website is going to need alot of updating soon. A fella by the name of Paul Kim is doing alot of the development with Surefire, and he's got some great toys on his website at www.pk-engineering.com.

Anybody need a 2000 lumen xenon HID light?

The Beast is standard lithium-driven (I can't imagine feeding that thing!), and the Hellfire is a modified rechargable version. On the far right is an E2 for comparison.

Don,
Now that helped me with my decision. Thank you very much for taking the time to help out :)

Thank you to everyone else also, it was a lot of information to digest and I think I will start with the E2

Streamlight Scorpians are very cool...put out tremendous
light...feel excellent to touch...BUT, when the battery
goes they're gone...and those lithium suckers are buckie...
they' aint INFI either...I never get the time out of my
Scorpian I deserve...but it is what it is...

Eric - i was afraid to post on this thread when i first saw it; cuz i don't own a SureFire flashlight!
But then i realized that i don't go ANYWHERE without my LED-lite [4 led's: Green, very bright, but no obscuring night vision.)
Batteries? It lights for up to THREE WEEKS, that's continous ON time !!!   Surefire doesn't do that, unless i'm mistaken (it happens...)
Do let us know what you get tho; a surefire is on my "wish-list" so if you like what you get, report back as to its features ya like, etc. for the rest of us non-SureFire, yet wanna-be prepared, Busse knife owners ??? Thanks, bro~
