Which Syderco for SD carry

To me 4" knife as a SD is a joke, but I may be wrong.
I don't see any reason why a 4" knife would not be effective for SD. A 4" blade is capable of inflicting absolutely massive trauma. I certainly agree with you that a few well placed shots from a .45 is better for stopping someone, but I would never underestimate a blade.

So I do not like idea of weaponizing knife which is best and oldest human tool.

Chairs, screwdrivers, baseball bats, fists, etc. all need to build momentum before they will do real damage, and they have a specific useful range that an attack can get into or out of rather easily. Also, a gun can be grabbed and taken at short range, trying the same with a knife wouldn't end well for the grabber.

A knife need only touch the skin to open it.

I also CCW but sometimes cannot. A knife would be better than nothing in areas allowed for carry. I have other things that I carry on planes and in airports.

To quote someone: "having a gun does not make yourself a shooter any more than having a piano makes you a pianist.

Thanks.

Thanks.

For SD & just Spyderco, I think the P'kal's probably the best one they make. It's the quickest to action other than a fixed blade. The way it's set-up, you can literally pull it from your pocket & be have the knife ready nearly as quick as a fixed blade & you wouldn't have the "legal" or concealment issues of 3" fixed bladed knife.

Although I've never had to use a knife for self-defense I have both the partially serrated black Military and the Civilian. From the way that both of them cut I believe they would be excellent SD knives if need be.
