Hey guys,
basically I got the OK to pick up whatever sebbie I want. I love these knives and I am excited to get something nice.
It will be my only EDC and it will be used good and hard. Im sure the CNC unique would hold up fine, but just trying to get some good feedback quick before I pull the trigger.

Im all about the large 21 so either a large micarta or unique.

One of the engraved models has a hematite inlay, so I am curious how well that would hold up. I love the beauty and like the though of wearing it out.

Any thoughts are appreciated. I only held a micarta once and dont really remember what it feels like.
Thanks guys,
Matt

If I was choosing anything outside of a plain Jane CRK it would be a micarta inlay. :)

I second the Lg 21 micarta inlay. I EDC one at work. I have the Insingo blade that makes IMO the best working blade.

Well, if you want one that will simply dazzle and never get dull to admire, but will break your heart with the first scratch, get the Unique. If you want one to have a good grip, get scratched up and look better used, get the micarta inlay. Of course, I'm a micarta fan. I've got one Unique that I don't use because I don't want my heart broken:upset:

Thanks for the replies brothers.
Ajack how have you been.

I know the micarta asked to be used,
But I found a nice unique. Basically the blue star inset stone. And almost no milling.
So its basically a plain jane with a simple line of dimples and a stone, so it would age just like a standard plain Jane as the whole slab face is still blasted.. I would not be interested if it had the brushed/polished surface like most. This has no intricate milling whatsoever. Very simple.
However the one thing I barely recall was the thicker feeling of the micarta, not a negative or positive really, but I think it made the knife feel softer in hand.
In the first week it will have plenty of wear I guarantee it.

I am really 50/50 right now, but keep them coming. I can tell there is alot of love for that micarta!
Thanks guys. Either way I know I will love it.

Hey Matt. I've never owned one but if it were me, I would get one without an inlay. I would have a fear of it coming off or breaking off over time with use. Maybe I am wrong? How are they held in? Epoxy?

They are held in with VHB very high bond tape. Basically epoxied in.
I doubt they would ever come out but the thought does cross my mind. As far as the little stone in lays are conerned I think those are press fit in so they can never come out.

I just got ahold of a guy online that has the most supreme simple unique.
I think I am about to jump on it.

BTW I forgot the PO is closed tomorrow, but all of your stuff will be shipped on Tuesday morning.

I think the stones are glued in from the back side..Could be wrong though

Well, they better be fastened together some how in a durable manner. I will work it hard.
Im sure no matter how they do it. All of the inlays and stones are good to go, they are smart over there.

I have a unique with a hematite inlay. Bhyde is correct, they are glued in from the back. I use mine as a daily user. It has a brushed presentation side and the scratches don't bother me one bit because they came from good honest use.

Hey, thank you for the feedback, I am happy to hear it help up well.
after all the discussion.
I jumped the gun and got one. Just trying to pay now.
I will post a picture. Boy did I luck out, its everything I wanted! it has the blue star stone thingy, I need to check exactly what it is.

Here is how the unique with inlay has held up with daily use. It is not kept in the sheath, just clipped in the pocket

Star Garnet-

It's an Idaho state stone.

Well , all I can do now is be super excited.
Luckily the knife was 15% off so I opted for over night shipping! I am not good at waiting for anything, never have been.
I will be sure to post up some pics when she arrives and updates along the way.
:D

So what I have here is a blue star sapphire?.
That sounds pretty cool and it looks darn nice in the picture too.
Matt

Sapphire, not a garnet. Garnet is typically red, but can be any color...except blue is exceptionally rare.

Ahh..yes..you are quite correct-

It's on the pricelist here; http://downloads.chrisreeve.com/Retail%20Jun%202014.pdf

FWIW,..I do have some garnets I dug from a site in North Idaho. I have never taken the time to do much with them..Most of those are a purple color.

Cool looking stones,..I would be more excited to have a blue star saphire :)

Cool price list!
Glad I found this baby. I guess I did good. Even after over night shipping I payed less than the price it should be. So high five to me!
I wish I had a private jet to fly to Colorado in the morning and pick it up. Darn holiday making me wait an extra day. Shame on the postal system.
