Which torch would you recommend for flame coloring?

I'm interested in doing some flame coloring like those found on titanium Strider scales. To my understanding, I would use a very fine torch for this.
Would any of you with experience with this use one of those handheld butane torches used for soldering. They get really hot, but I still would like to make sure before making a purchase.

Thanks,
Paul

Becareful with a torch on a tempered blade, if you heat past the tempering temperature you might ruin the blade's temper.

I checked the strider site and got this info.

How are Stripes made?
BG42 and ATS-34 are dark colored after heat treat, the blades are then bead blasted to create the stripes (this gives the stripes a red tinge).
S30V is light after heat treat so it is black oxide finished and then bead blasted to create the stripes.
