Which traditional folder has the best ergonomics?

A single bladed knife will almost always be more comfortable, but there are a couple of multi-bladed folders that feel very good in the hand to me. One is the GEC #56 Dogleg pattern. The Swayback Jack is also a favorite of mine with the curved handle. Both of these patterns have secondary pen blades that closely follow the contour of the knife.

The knife that surprised me the most in this aspect was my two blade Sowbelly from Gene Wiseman.

The curve of the handle is more comfortable than I thought it would be and the downward angle of the clip blade puts the knife in a natural cutting position. The shape also effectively sinks the blades into the handle in the closed position more so than some other knives that pivot at opposite ends.

Mr.wiseman is doing some really fine work in those shadows!

Great thread! I find a congress quite ergonomic for whittling. Guess it sorta sucks for slicing and other tasks.

ANY 10-13 cm Laguiole is WITHOUT A DOUBT the best fit to hand folder in the entire knife world................ the french can't be beat on elagance

Man, I have a hard time thinking anything could be more comfortable than a single blade saddlehorn. I've got a smallish Dowell version that just fits the hand like a dream. It seems the saddlehorn handle shape can give you more purchase on a small knife, like a secure three finger grip.
