Well I've now fell in love with slip joints and I'm looking to try more brands but I don't want to end up with something I'll regret. Here's what I have already

Menefee Swayback

Case CV Swayback Jack

And last but not least a GEC #25

I'm looking for something close to 3" with good steel and quality build, blade centered, solid lockup etc.

Thanks.

I meant to add a poll so I closed the first thread.

Close to 3"?

Okay........Queen

Queen #26 stockman in Amberbone in D2 3 1/4"
(You can get it as Serpentine Jack with 2 blades)

This is jigged delrin

Dan Burke (Queen) 1/2 Whittler Winterbottom in Sandvick 3 1/8"
(Wharnie blade too close the the Swayback?)

Or a Dan Burke (Queen) #26 Stockman Winterbottom in Sandvick 3 1/4"
Combination both above

Dan Burke and a Canal St (looks the same as a Queen Amberbone)

Those look great! I'm looking in to those. I love that half whittler. What model canal street is that?

I have a Case stockman on the way. As a maker I am interested to know why the customs have to be limited to under $500? There are plenty that fall below that price but also plenty above that price too. You would struggle to find a custom traditional with more than 1 blade below that price.

I'm willing to go over $500 but I have some custom orders coming up in rapid succession very soon.

I hate to say this but....LOL

Also available in Pearl or Abalone in D2!!!
I don't know the knife personally but I presume either would be special

Since you have one of Rick's then the next step is to get on Bret Dowell list for a Remington drop point. He makes some very very nice slips.

Look into the Canal Street Canittler. I love mine. Canoe frame with three blades, all D2. Main is a nice 3" spear point with two matching coping and pen blades.

You have some nice ones.I voted for the Cas Bose Collab I do not think it'll be a let down for you. Just like me,you're kinda all over the place w/ yur knives.I think this means you are a true knife nut,lol .At this point,my recommendation is to check one of those out.I think you'll agree, you'll swear your holding a custom , forget about size, your tastes will change, trust me

My next traditional will be a Buck Classic Yellow Handled 301 Stockman.

I'll be ordering it 2nd Day Air from SMKW today and should have it Wednesday or maybe Thursday because Monday is Memorial Day.

Case/Bose, not sure if you can wait on the 2010 Zulu, but it should be a great one.

IMO, you can't go wrong with a custom either.

You just cannot go wrong with a nice Ken Coats or Mike Zscherny Shadow. Both under $500 they are beautifully made, one of a kind and will only increase in value.
Having said that there are many other excellent makers you could choose from. No prizes for guessing what I voted for:o

It looks like you don't have a sodbuster.

Every knifeknut needs a soddie. Esspecially if its yella and in CV!

You need to go look for an old Gutmann or Voss Hen and Rooster Stockman. It is amazing quality. Good stag, thin carbon blades, and a fine peice of history. That is my suggestion.

I voted custom. I think there're a few makers that post their knives on BFs that would be within your price-point.

Otherwise, I'd say Queen/Schatt & Morgan.

The Case/Bose Collaborations are great, but not sure if there're any that are in the size range you're looking for. I have a Dogleg Jack & it's fantastic. The F&F is nearly the equal of a custom.
