Which Tweener?

I only have the 16 of the tweeners, so I can only attest to that and I can say that it has not let me down. I liked the 14, and this is just a bigger 14, with jimping and ergonomical handles. I have not been disappointed by that purchase!

Alright, looks like there are a lot of different opinions here. My reasoning for suggesting the BK17 is this, if you are wanting a do it all knife, I really think the choice is between the 16 and 17. I love the 16, especially the saber ground one, but you mentioned woodwork, and that to me says you are going to need a finer point that you can get on the 16, so 17. All of them are great, so you aren't going to go wrong with whatever you choose, but if it was me, and I was wanting it for what you are, the 17 would be the most logical choice in my mind because it has combined many of the pluses for each of the others. Fine point like a 15, but thicker heft of a saber 16. If you sharpen it right, it will most definitely perform and do everything you are wanting it to.

Yes I am a little more confused. I am leaning towards the BK15 more now. It was my least favored of the bunch, but not for any real reason other than looks. Sounds stupid maybe. The only reason I don't have a BK5 is because I am not sure what kind of a chopper it is. I mainly use my knives as choppers because I grab old wood from the forest (don't worry, not deforestation :) ) for farming/ gardening stuff. The only small fixed blades I have is an ESEE 3, the Eskabar, and a BK2, which really isn't that small. I can't even count the ESEE 3 as mine becuase it is my wife's.

For those of you that own a 2, 5, or a 7, how does the 15 or any of the tweeners feel in compairison?

the 5 can chop -- but it's not as efficient at it as the 9 or even the 7.

I was in the same boat a bit ago deciding between the 15 and 16. I went with the 15 b/c I like trailing points, only have a couple and have a nice group of drop and spear points. The 15 has really impresed me as a versitile and handy blade and I have zero regrets buying it. The 16 will be bought soon though!

edit- add a little knife porn! :)

Ok guys...a little update...I bought a

BK15!

Thanks for all the input. No pics yet as it is still shipping, but I thought I'd get something a little different than what I am used to.

Congrats on the 15 purchase. I have a 16 on the way and am very excited.

Looking forward to seeing pics of your new blade.

Congrats ! Enjoy  I only have the 17 ( well a 14 & 9 too ) , but the handle and feel of the 17 is superb !!

I just pulled the trigger on a 16 (arrival on Friday). I chose the 16 because I had seen a bunch of YT vids of people using it for wood processing and I also watched the E2E interview (Shot Show 2013) where Ethan said the 16 was the knife he has been trying to design for years and years. I figured I would get one because of all the rave reviews. That being said, I might have chose the wrong one....for now. I should maybe have chosen the 15 over the 16 because this knife is for my wife who, would probably use it more for food prep than anything else. So, what I have decided to do is....I'll let her carry the 16, and I'll get the 15 later and if she wants to switch then I'll give the 16 to my daughter. Either way, they will get used for whatever, whenever.

I just ordered the 15 from Tomar's with the factory micarta. It was a tough choice but I really like the 15's blade profile and think it will be a great "around the Camp" knife.

You guys will love that BK15! It's a great blade and will come in handy quite often.

So....

I got me the 15 and it came today! I love this and now I get why those who got the 5 love it! I am not going to get the 5 and 16...
I haven't been impressed by a knife in a LONG time. The last time was when I got an Ontario SP52 and that is because that thing is to be feared! I chopped pig spine with that thing...

But the 15...I can say that for a smaller knife, this thing has it all. I don't like the sheath, but what more can you get for the price and the thing is very well made and is great for most people. For me just a preference thing. I will probably end up making some kydex for it. The knife feels great in hand and wow, just wow in the kitchen department!

I can't say anything about these tweeners, just wow. They are great!

Awesome, congrats! You can do a lot to mod that sheath and get it down to a more appropriate size for the knife. Honestly, I like the tweener sheaths...even more after the snap straps are gone and replaced with one small piece of shock cord.
