Which VFD

I noticed that there are two styles of KB Electronics VFD. The one I see the most often is the KBAC, but when I was recently ordering a new VFD I noticed they also had a KBDA model, with a digital readout and reverse built in. The price difference was negligible . The KBAC is described as a hybrid drive and the KBDA is described as a digital drive. The reading I did stated that the KBDA had a certain number of pre-programable functions. I still ordered the KBAC because I know how to use that one, and figured I would just get confused by the digital one (plus it was still cheaper, if not by much). I'm wondering if anyone runs the KBDA and if there are any advantages to it for a knife maker? Thanks in advance.

They have additional features, like being able to program it to readout the actual RPM or SFPM on your belt.

I don't need additional info beyond knowing that I'm turning my twisty knob to half, three quarters, and eyeballing the belt speed and sound.

I also made a deliberate decision to avoid them because of the membrane buttons on them.
It suits my caveman sensibilities to use toggle switches and knobs, and prefer knowing I can replace those switches and potentiometers myself easily.

You can easily put a reverse switch in the one you have.

I think I showed how either here or on KD with photos.

I guess I agree that I prefer the actual switches, I guess I was just wondering if I was missing some OMG feature that would make my life easier. I ordered a reversing switch for my KBAC 27D, along with an AC power switch for it. I never did like leaving the power on all the time. I looked online and KB has great directions on how to make the changes.

KB has horrible markup on those switches

$60 ish on a $5 or $10 switch

You can get them from other sources next time if you ordered direct this time.

I think each switch was $20, which I didn't think was too bad.
