Hello all,

I'm looking to add a Wharncliffe to my collection and have narrowed it down to these two. I have heard nothing but good things about both. Just wondering if anyone can chime in to help tip the scale. Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks

I have both, and am a fan of Wharncliffes.
The Brous is obviously much shorter in length, but it's stout. Nice detailing. It has a unique look and feel but the ergonomics aren't what I'd call "natural".
The Yobo2 (I have the cf/s90v) is one of my favorite folders. Longer than the SSF but a narrower profile. Fills out your hand and feels great. The Spyderco compression lock is fantastic.

If you're looking at the standard Yojimbo it's going to be quite a bit less expensive than the ssf. That's the way I'd go. Later on if your wharncliffe thirst isn't quenched check out the Brous.

I think I'd go with the Spydie YJ2. I have heard nothing but praise for the Yojimbo. So much so that it will probably be my choice for a Spydie compression lock.

I would get the yojimbo. And that is from a hopeless flipper addict. I personally dont care for Jason Brous. I am trying to be less of a A-hole these days so I will try to choose my words carefully. I personally dont trust the business Jason has built. I have suspicions as to the country of origin on at least a large number of parts he uses if not scales and blades. I also feel he has very poor customer service. He was very helpful when I was interested in his knives to purchase. But after i had purchased them he could not be bothered with anything remotely approaching talks of defective items. Change emails and start contacting him about a purchase gets me high priority again. When i out myself as being the guy with the jacked up knife communication ceases once again. IMHO not the best way to do business. With the spyderco I know they will be there for me in the event of a problem.

I'd go with the Yojimbo. The compression lock is great, as well as being fun to play with.

But I'm a bit biased in favor of Spyderco. I don't know much about Brous knives.

That sucks :-/ I have a Brous T4 that I love... Dinged the tip on cement (oops).. Emailed him about it and he told me to send it in.. Got it back, no cost, a week or so later fixed up perfect with some key chains and stickers tossed in. No issues at all... Though, in this case between the silent solider and Yojimbo 2.. I'd go with the Spydie. I had 2.. Sadly traded them both and want another lol.

Here's a little side x side comparison.

Wharnies rock! I have the Brous SS and love it. No idea why I don't have the Yojimbo...so I think I need to solve that now :)
