I haven't been this stumped in a while.IMO,the S30V is only slightly better than BM's 154CM.The price difference isn't really an issue(about $20?).Thing is,I can only get one of these & just love'em both.If you could only get one of these two which would you get & why? Thanks in advance for any & all input.;)

Yea,I like the blade design on the 950 better, but I have so many black blade+black handles. It'd be nice to have a blue handle for a change, plus(in the back of my mind)I'm always gonna be thinking the S30V is better. This is gonna take awhile to figure out:confused:

I haven't fondled either knife, but based on the photos I'd choose the 930. That knife's lines have a cleaner and smoother 'flow'.

I find the 950 very unattractive and dorky looking. Neither blade is my style by a mile, but the 930 is a far nicer looking design that I wouldn't feel lame for carrying.

Get a 930 because I want one and can't afford either right now. At least I can enjoy it vicariously through the forum. :)

I think the Rift is funny looking, but like the look of the Kulgera. It reminds me of an Ares a bit.

Well, I held both and came home with the 930, but I also ordered a PE 950. If I could only have one it would be the 930. The knife is classier looking IMHO.

The 930, I agree with you on the color. Enough black on black.
The 930 is a better looking knife, unless your buying a knife for intimidation factor. It's S30V. It's more of a gentleman knife, you know, sheeple friendly.
You know you want it!

OK,I was all set to buy the 950 when I first saw it,but then someone went & brought up the 930.Now,with all the pos.feedback about the 930,I'm kinda leaning towards that one.I guess the first thing that caught my eye on the 950 was the layered G10 scales & the reverse tanto blade, but I'm really liking the looks of the 930 more now.Unfourtunately, about 95% of all the knives I buy are through the internet.I don't have any sporting goods stores in my area(that carry knives below retail anyway:mad:),plus my job occupies most of my free time(I'm at home sick with bronchitis now).I rarely get to hold any knife before I buy it.When I do buy,it's usually around 2-3am.When I get the new knife & don't like it,I just list it on a well known auction site & usually take a $10-$30 loss.BTW,All the WalMarts in "liberal sheep" Jersey did away with all the hunting equipment(including knives) a couple years ago,so when I do actually get to hold a knife before I buy it,it's in PA on my annual hunting/fishing trip.
Anyway,I'm going with the 930(doesn't take much to convince me:D)
Thanks a lot,for all your help guys:thumbup:

I like the blade on the 930, but I don't care for coated blades or B/M's 154CM, so my pick would be the 950 (I prefer their S30V to their 154CM).

What is it you don't like about BM's 154CM?Heat Treat?Chipping or bevel problems?Just curious.

I like the looks of both, I personally don't think the Rift is tactical looking, thought the 930 does look classier to me. I thought the Rift look very attractive actually, but damn I just found out about the 930. I really don't know which one I would prefer. It's bad enough Spyderco keeps coming out with all these appealing designs, now Benchmade had to come out with these 2.

Do you have any blade designs like the 950 already? If so try the 930.

I have a 921, which is similar to the 930.
I never thought I'd like a modified Wharncliff or drop point until I finally bought one. Now I really like the design. I find them much more versatile than a reverse Tanto.

I try to be really discreet with knives in general. The fact remains that many Americans have become frightened little sheeple.

I actually have certain knives that I carry in certain environments. Some I can carry anywhere. Others, like my 610 Rukus, I carry in a more selective manner, hence, they don’t get carried as often! I have the great luxury of having more than one nice folder though.

With that in mind:
Do you ever think you will pull this knife out in any ‘proper’ type of public setting, i.e. wedding, office, church etc? If so, the 930 design is much more ‘acceptable’.
The 950 design is paramilitary, like it or not. {Especially in black}
The 930 is more of a ‘Gents’ knife.

I have found I can flick a much larger blade without raising eyebrows, if the knife is really classy and expensive looking. On the other hand, I can open a ‘tactical’ folder, with a smaller blade and see a more nervous reaction sometimes.

Maybe this whole deal doesn’t apply to you. But if it does, the 930 is the one you want.

Did I mention you’ll really like the blade design on that one?:)

If it's an EDC buy the 930, it's a more functional, comfortable heavy use knife, it also has more of a utility blade that'l see more use.

On second thought I'd buy the 950 first, play with it for a while, realize I shoulda bought the 930 in the first place and then save till I could afford it, so don't ask me, I can't help.

I will be watchin' to see how this turns out.;):)

Where did you find one at? I haven't seen any for sale yet.
