Which Would You Choose

If you had the chance to have only one Kershaw flipper to carry at all times, anywhere, to use to open boxes all the way to a survival knife, and a defensive knife, which would you choose, and why? Basically which would be your preferred kershaw flipper for any situation?

I have a few Kershaw flippers. I have a Groove an Ener-G I and II and a RAM. The RAM has been with me every day since I got it. It is as sharp as any knife I own holds an edge well is easy sharpened. It also opens as well as any AO knife I own, maybe as fast as some of autos!! The RAM IMHO is as good an EDC flipper as it gets. Get one now and you will not be disappointed.

I'd also carry a RAM. It's the most practical design of the flippers I've used.

JYDII sg2 ti. That is a nasty beast, not too heavy in the pocket either. Russ

I will second the JYDII with SG2 blade and titanium handles. Good belly on the blade for utility jobs, it's a frame lock, and it has some nice curves.

RAM is an incredible flipper, smooth as can be. The groove also gets lots of pocket time with me and is a really great knife.......but I'm with the above poster that if I could only have one Kershaw flipper, it would certainly be the Ti SG2 Junkyard Dog II. Titanium, Super Gold, RAZOR edge, lightweight, big enough for just about anything....Yep! That's the one:thumbup:

Groove or JYD II for larger hands
R.A.M. or JYD I or Ener-G II for medium hands
Zing or Ener-G I for smaller hands

JYD II, the regular Sandvik blade version, which is much better suited to the kind of heavy use implied by "survival" than is the very thinly ground SG2 model.

Too many potential uses here for me to decide. I really like the ENER-G II. Very slick flipper system. Then there's the Lahar. Big knife with a lot of blade filled with VG-10 goodness. Another very slick flipper. Also the ZT0200 fits in well here too, especially when you mention survival and self defense.

I guess if it had to be just one for everything you mentioned, it would be the 0200. If ZT's aren't allowed, then the Lahar.

Does the Tyrade count? (it's AO)

I don't know how to use a knife for defensive purposes (hence, I'd probably just hurt myself!), but for everything else you mentioned, the Tyrade wins out between the ZT200 and the Dam Leek that I have.

The reason why is that the lockup is perfect and the CPM D2 steel maintains its edge so well.

The 1730T.It feels great in the hand, with the finger grooves is very secure even when your hand is wet. Awesome flipper, pocket clip is deep, black finish adds a sense of stealth and no flash upon deployment in self-defense and survival mode.Tanto blade with the front for delicate work good size belly for slicing. Hard to beat IMHO.

...but wait, I thought you darksiders said...never mind.
LOL! Just because we sometimes journey to the dark side doesn't mean we haven't seen the light. :)

I know I've said it before, but sometimes I wonder if even the Kershaw lovin' community appreciates how good these Sandvik steels are. IMO there really should be a couple of ZT models with either 14C28N or 12C27 blades ... now *that* would be my idea of a practical, super-hard use folder.

13C26 is now my second favorite steel behind CPM S30V. I'm greatly looking forward to trying 14C28N! I'll choose the RAM that is on it's way to my door hopefully.

I carry the Junk Yard Dog II CB, Liked it and bought a second. it's just the right size that fits the Hand.
