Which would you rather have?

You have only two choices. You can either have a CRK Sebenza or a Bradley Alias and a Spyderco Gayle Bradley. Which do you choose? This is a choice I am trying to make and these are the only two choices I am interested in.

Sebenza. :thumbup::thumbup:

I have no love for the Alias.

I have no sebenza, but I do have an alias and I can not fault it for anything. Locks up tight, blade grind is awesome, perfect belly, can not be felt in pocket (slim and light).

Bad experience with the Alias?

I personally don't like the style, the blade shape, or the construction. I guess it's like comparing a Jaguar to a BMW in some respects, I just prefer the Sebenza.

I know the Alias is a fine knife, however I am happier with the Sebenza. If you really just need to convince yourself give CRK a call and talk to them for a bit. Explain the differences between their knives and others.

Before getting the Spyderco Gayle Bradley I would have voted Sebenza. But now? I'm not sure--by itself it proves the Sebenza unnecessary in terms of absolute functionality, and the extremely high level of quality puts it way above its cost in relative fit and finish.

I guess you need to ask yourself the question posed in the thread way below--do you plan to really use these knives, and if you have a $400 Sebenza will that make you shy away from using it? If so, the answer is simple--the the GB and Alias. Otherwise, it's impossible to say, as you will gain slightly in F&F, but not in functionality.

A ford will get you to point A to point B, just as a Jaguar will. Same with all knives, they will get the job done. It just depends on how much style you want to do it with, more style costs more money...... but keep in mind that more style also holds it's value better.... I am perfectly happy with Bradley Alias's style, and I have not been spoiled by the Sebenza.

No matter how you slice it and dice it, the Sebenza is the standard against which all other production Titanium Framelocks are judged. It's not the Bradley Alias. It's not the Spyderco Gayle Bradley. It's not the A. G. Russell Acies. It's not the Strider SNG. It's not even the Lionsteel SR-1. It's the Sebenza. There's got to be a reason for that.

i say get the sebenza and if you dont like it, sell it and get the alias and gayle bradley. youre always going to wonder about it unitl you get one, so you might as well just get it.

Was the sebenza the first to introduce the frame lock? I always hear Chris Reeve integral lock so I am assuming so. I am sure this with titanium scales pretty much blew everything out of the water when it first came out, and apparently is still doing so. I am curious about the sebenza..... I hate this site, it wastes my money and time.

The sebenza's S30V is heat treated a little on the soft side right, so that it doesn't chip but rather roll?

I suggest the sebenza.

Either the sebenza or the gayle Bradley. Dont bother with the alias, as other than construction material similarities, it is a completely different knife than a sebenza, and not in any way a substitute.

As a sebenza owner, i suggest you go to a sebenza. But if you're not 100% certain, I suggest you buy the gayle Bradley and save the difference for a sebenza later on. Both are very good knives, in fact the gayle Bradley is on the top of my "next knife" list currently.

Edit: also, don't worry too much about heat treat and blade steel. At that point, it's all quite good. What ever you buy, it'll stay sharp enough to slice clean through, and it will need to be properly maintained (honed occasionally).
If you hit something hard with the edge, and you get a bac chip or a roll, at that point it doesnt matter too much. It'll need work to repair either way, though perhaps a little less should it roll.

CRK was the first to introduce the "framelock" or Reeve Integral Lock.

CRK's heat treat is spot on IMO.

I don't have any idea about the Alias, but if it were the Sebenza vs. the Gayle Bradley I'd go with the Spyderco. Carbon fiber handles, CPM-M4 blade steel, and for about 1/4 the price of the Sebenza--of course I'm sure someone will come in and tell me how you can't put a price on quality or something along those lines, I see price as being a factor in choosing a knife.

About the only reason I'd choose a Sebenza is so that I could see if it lives up to the hype and for the titanium handles. That being said I'm pretty sure I would be kind of disappointed if I didn't like it, but on the other hand I could sell it for a high enough price that I could then go ahead and get a Gayle Bradley.

I mean, if I had this kind of money to spend just on knives, I'd probably give the Sebenza a try since the resell value is high enough that it won't be too much of a loss if I didn't like it.

The nice thing about the Sebenza as far as I see it is that the resell value is so high. People are willing to pay a high price for it whether it's used or not, and you don't see that in a lot of high-priced consumer items. The good thing about that is that most of the users hyping it up probably aren't doing so just to justify their purchase; if they weren't totally satisfied with it, they could just turn around and sell it. So personally I would give the Sebenza a try to see if it lives up to the hype, and if it doesn't, sell it and get a Gayle Bradley.

Yah but that is only because Jaguars ARE Fords :D

Personally I'd go with the Alias and the Spyderco and have 2 nice knives to play with. The Alias is a handsome knife, and you can beat the hell out of the Spyderco without worrying so much.

^what he said.

The Bradley is a great knife, and very under-priced, in my opinion, for what you get.

The Sebenza can be "overpriced" to some.

If you are in the know about what you pay for in a Sebenza, you won't be disappointed, but if there's any way to get both, even if it means saving up for another 2, 3, or 6 months, it's worth it.

All my opinion...
