Which ZT should I buy?

Tachead, would you be willing to bet you can flip your xm open 200 times in a row, using the same finger, without a single failure to lock, without your finger bleeding from having to preload so much? And not using your wrist? I've had two xm-18 3.5" slicers and neither one of them had a detent. I had to use wrist action to get them to open and lock. I think I could do it easily with a 0392bwbrz.

I deleted my comment. The XM was just a suggestion and I don't want to derail any further.

I'm not trying to fight here man, just giving another suggestion.

They flip fine once broke in. At least Hinderer can make a frame lock that works properly lol. I can't count all the problems I have read about ZT's locks sticking, over travelling, or some other malfunction. Are you honestly trying to say that the mid-tech ZT is better then a real XM-18? That's ridiculous man. ZT's are more show then go, everyone knows that. You ZT fan boys are hilarious lol. ZT's are ok, I really like there fixed blades(not so much the folders).

Do you believe everything you read? Some of us think for ourselves based on real experiences. And im not a zt fanboy. Anyone can tell you that. I like them just fine but just remember you can read every negative comment about a zt ever written and its a small sample compared to the amount of knives they produce. More production equals more defects. That is manufacturing. But what do we know, ricks willingness to collaborate with zt must mean he doesnt think much of their abilities too right? Either way YOU should try the knives for yourself. Dont just read other peoples thoughts and assimilate to there way of thinking. Thats actually one of the problems with zt haters. Most of what they spout is regurgitating what they have heard.

You seem intent on hating those who criticize certain companies. Give it a rest man. The dude has his opinion. He's not being crazy in how he's presenting it. Seems like you're just trying to pick a fight. Take that crap to W and C.

As I said, I don't want to derail any further but, just so you know, I have owned and still own ZT knives.

I just got my first zt 0560, I've hade the 0350, and others but since getting the 0560 I can't put it down, I have none of the issues I've read about with mine.

Actually it would seem you are trying to pick a fight with me. Bodog you dont tell me what to do. Ever. You can try, but how has it worked for you in the past? Either way white knighting never works out for anyone on this forum. His comments were inflammatory and seeking a response. If that wasnt his desire the words he chose are super poor. And you have a reputation as the resident hater for a reason. My comments to him I would have stated no matter what the brand. So yeah, he has an opinion and so do I. If you want to discuss your issue with me one might suggest YOU take it to W&C. Dont get mad at me when you fail to turn endless threads into ZT stomping parties. EVERYONE has told you they are sick of it. Yet you still beat your drum. And while I would have replied no matter the brand everyone knows what interests you about this thread.

Thats awesome. Own them, dont own them. I own knives I dont like either. I was just trying to point out that the language you were using and the comments you made seem to be seeking a response even though you stated otherwise. When you use language like "they are more show than go, everyone knows that" and calling someone ridiculous because they like zt more than hinderer is going to entice a reaction. Because not many will agree and they will see it as you trying to get a reaction and trust me if you dont like my response there are plenty who would tip toe even less than I. And also saying things like "I have read" especially when criticising implies you arent speaking from experience. Either way if you arent trying to stir the pot their are better ways to get your point across.

A really nice ZT on the budget minded side is the 0770 if you can find one of the M390 or CPM-M4 steel. That would be my choice. They pack a lot of cutting edge into that handle.

They did the 770 in m4? I missed that one. Gonna google that right now.

Indeed. I will probably end up getting one on the Exchange if. I can catch one. The current asking price is a bit much, JMO.

I bought one NIB in M390, and I let it go. That was stupid...it was a great knife. Solid and capable, but not heavy...
ZT's are excellent; have had MANY, but have found that the great majority are heavier than my casual use demands...
My preference is around 5.0 ounces or less in a framelock... and they usually hit 5.6 oz or so pretty commonly...

Thanks I am sure the xm18 is an excellent knife but at this point in my life I'm not willing to spend 5 to 6 hundred dollars on a knife. Especially when I can get one designed by the man himself for a couple hundred. He wouldn't let them put his name on it if he wasn't happy with the product. Thanks for the input I might look into a smaller model just to see what I can expect. As far as higher end spyderco knives they are on my list as well just one step at a time.
