Whick knife do you think is the "Buck 110" of today.

I am going to stay with the Buck theme and say the soon to be released....

S30V & G10 goodness!

RATS! I meant to grab the PLAIN edge version, but you get the point.

The Buck 110 is a great knife, I carried one for over 25 years but it is outdated now and I would have to say the Spyderco Endura based on innovation, utility, and price.

I would agree with others the Spyderco Endura/Delica (110/112). Very popular and price is reasonable.

I think the 'Buck 110 of today' would be the Buck Custom Shop 110, made to your order. For example, in a minimalist vein, you can have one with blue Dymondwood scales, nickel silver bolsters, with/without rivets showing, and an S30V blade - shipped - for $86! That's a 'custom' made knife, too. Go back four plus decades - how much was a 110 then? How much was bread then? Gasoline? The basic 110 for <$30 at local discount stores is still a bargain.

Now, if you want a more modern design 'classic', let's look at Ti-framelocks with upgrade steel blades; my Benchmade Skirmish's, Kershaw JYDII in Ti/SG2, and the CRK Sebenzas come to mind. A 'design' of today - and the future - that's 'like' a 110 has been all of these years.

I'm also gonna' go with the Spyderco Endura. When it comes to quality for price, it's hard to beat (just like the 110). It's also way up there on the popularity scale with knife knuts and Joe Average weekend outdoors people (once again, just like the 110).

The Endura if it just has to be a lock back, other wise it's this one for big clip blade, strong lock and very popular!

Have to go with the Delica/Endura as well. Spyderco is the only popular knife brand I've seen that "normal" people readily identify, and the Endura is one of the few decent knives that I've seen people like mechanics and construction workers with.

This 110 is on my hip now. D. Thomas SS Damascus, jigged Buffalo, NS...she's a peach!!

Also, another of my recent adds to the 110 collection. DT SS DM, ironwood, ns, rivets:

Most illuminating is trying to out-perform a 110 with a 'higher grade' folder. I encourage you to try. Some erstwhile bushcrafters have tried to get a better cutter for the money, but it can't be done. The old 110 is, without exaggerating bravado, the new and renowned 110.

id say the 110 has been around for a long time and has not changed. theres a small following still. i gave up on the design when i discovered knives that clip to your pocket and can also be opened with one hand. these are the biggies imo that puts lockback knives and there 2 handed nail nick openers into a bygone era. I think at the moment there are too many clipits with one hand capability out there to pick one and make a claim that its the new buck 110. for a very long time there were only buck and buck like lockbacks and from there you had slip joint folders and fixed blades. the world was simple then. no internet and there were only 3 news outlets on tv. to some up a response i think you could say the most popular folders that are out now in the size range of the 110/112 would be Spyderco endura/delica and benchmade grip and mini grip. there are certainly many others that fall into this catagory. im just using these examples as its my opinion that they are right up there in popularity that might not be as high as buck enjoyed at one time but certainly very popular considering the number of choices out there. it will probubly be a long time before we have a buck replacement in our jargon when refering to a generic folder. im shure the other knife companies are envious of this at times .
