OK, so I am standing at the forge with a hammer and a piece of steel in my hand wondering what to make next when this developed. I made something similar about a year ago and got a lot of comments like "but what can you use it for?" Any help trying to answer that is appreciated.

Forged from 1/4 inch 5160
Hollow grind with some forging marks
Scotchbright finish
Tapered tang
Overall length: 15 1/2 inches
Sharpened blade: 5 1/4 inches

More of a really short spear, than a knife. It reminded me of what I'd heard of the assegai, but it seems those aren't as short as I'd thought. I'm not seeing anything but a weapon there, maybe learn to throw it for fun?

Whatever you'd use it for, I like it.
