I've heard of that before, though always thought the soap would burn or melt off.
My only gripe the carbon build up is if there is no bag for the pot/pan/etc, then your stuff gets all sooty. I guess just reduce how much fat wood you use and keep the fire nice and hot.
[/IMG]I have a Tatonka 1.5 liter tea kettle. Has a nice screen filter that slips into the top. Stainless steel, wide bottom and light weight. I am really liking this kettle over the GSI because of the durability of stainless vs aluminum and the screen for loose tea.

I had the small primus years ago but gave it away, i don't remeber why. About a year ago I bought the GSI aluminum kettle and I like it better so I won't be giving it away!
My trangia fits inside the plastic cups that came with the GSI kettle. This way the trangia doesn't scratch the inside of the kettle. I only use it with a fuel stoves so can't comment on cleaning off wood fire residue.
It's just right for 2 people imo.
I'm still looking for a better stove stand. I might try the Emberlit next.
