Thanks to SgtMike888 for writing this review. This explains why my avatar looks the way it does. Hope this sheds some light on the topic of survival signal whistles.

Read about it at the above listed link.

Awesome! I really like the Tops whistle, because it is so slim.

Might have to pick one up.

L!

Thanks for the link, Kev! I didn't know Sgt. Mike had a blog, now I have another site on my bookmarked list. Much appreciated. Some great info there.

Not a real CS fan, but the CS Pocket Bushman article is interesting as well.

As is the Blind Horse Small Tiger Knapp review.

I should post that in the right thread...

Thank you Kevin. You blew it and you and SgtMike888 came up with a great review.

BTW-Which Bison whistle is the "spy capsule" model? Bison Designs doesn't use that name on their web site. They show a hex whistle, a survival whistle, a small cylinder whistle and a training whistle.

very cool write up guys... i also wouldn't mind picking up one of those TOPS whistle's.. they don't looks to bad...

Thank you so much for this. My next major component for my PSKs is a whistle, and now I think I'll be buying a 5 pack from Tops.

I was surprised by the Pocket Bushman as well. Sturdy lock-up, and very sharp right out of the box.

It's ugly, but you could do a lot worse for twenty-five bucks.

Great write up...Question the blog listed Part 2...I cannot seem to locate Part 1. I was hoping to see how the standard bearer "Fox 40" held up with the new kids on the block. Is there a test on it?

I personally like my Fox 40. This is just because years of lifeguarding made it a familiar friend. Thanks to this test, I'm starting to re-evaluate the utility of that little Victorinox whistle. The orion is nice too and if you have room, the Storm is king.

As far as prices, I don't want to get into a price hunting thread with this one. However, I'll recommed www.edcdepot.com and www.campingsurvival.com for your whistle needs. Both guys have an excellent selection.

Thanks for the posting the link, looking forward to the next test.

It's a tossup between the tops and fox 40.

Anybody know where to order the tops knives whistle besides their official website? It's pretty good priced on there, but was wondering if it was on any other camping site so I could order a few things.

We have three Atwood whistles for hiking. I highly recommend them, if you can find one.
