Here's my latest knife.

It is supposed to be a matching piece to one of my shorter Onion Choppers, that also has an Ivory Micarta handle.

Since the customer had to wait for nearly 6 months, I put a nice, time consuming satin finish by hand on it. Makes it look a lot better in my eyes, just like a knight in shining armor :D.

The steel is differentially hardened 0-2 (1.2842) in 4mm thickness. It sports Ivory Micarta with red liners and SS pins.

I forgot to measure it but as you can see in the pics it's definitely not on the short side :D.

The spot is just a piece of dirt, not pitting:

I hope you like it as much as I do and I'm looking forward to your comments.

Best regards,

wow it looks outstanding, nice lines it just flows. What method did you use to put you makers mark on it?

Oh man! I really like that a lot! If you posted a pic of your shorter onion chopper, I must have missed it. If it looks anything like that, it's gotta be sweet too! -Matt-

I really like that. Very nice knife. The excellent finish really steps it up!

I also am curious can you explain the etching process you used ? how many volts and for how long to get such a nice mark ? Great looking knife !

Very beautiful blade Marcus  I love Ivory Micarta, hands down my favorite synthetic :) Curious to know where the ivory micarta came from ? It has an "aged" look to it. The ivory micarta I work with comes out much whiter. I like the way yours looks better. I want some ;) , where can I get it :)

I really like that one! Simple, clean, and elegant!
Nice job!

Word. That etch is badass!!

Thanks a lot guys, I'm glad that after an 8 month break from knifemaking my knives still seem to look decent :D.

It is supposed to be a matching piece to this Ivory Micarta Onion Chopper.

@David: The micarta came from Sheffield Supply, as far as I know they still have it.

As Glenn said the logo was etched. I use stencils and electrolyte from a german supplier, but I guess it's just the same as in the US.

But because I know squad about electronics I didn't build an etching machine.

I just use the following batterycharger on full power (200Ah and I think 12 Volt):

The etch is very deep and black. From time to time I have a few problems with some stainless steels. But basicly I can put the etch in every steel.

When you try it with your charger, + goes to the blade and - is your etching unit. With most of the chargers you have to put an old battery between + and the blade because otherwise they don't work. At least I have to do it with mine.

If you have any questions feel free to ask :).

Best regards,
Marcus
