hi - got my SIFU last wed and while i really like it, it didnt flick open as easily as i like - this is a touchy area as if ya get it tooooo loose it seems like it could open up in your pocket ........not good....

i put some white lighting on the pivot and its like night and day - have used WL on all my knives and never as dramatic a diff as w/this knife - now its PERFECT - i couldnt believe a few drops of a lub could make a diff like this - still no probs w/it opening up on me, but flicks open like a diff knife i am very impressed -and i have been using WL on my bike chain and other stuff for over 2+ yrs and have never seen it make such a diff

now, my SIFU is perfect really - it is now officially my EDC knife replacing my BM AFCK which, until now, i thought was irreplaceable - wow what can i say? i depend on it, along w/my Glock 33 to defend me and my family - i cant give higher praise......

what can i say?? REKAT RULES the knife world IMHO........glad i joined the club - i cant believe people in the spyderco forum argue that the matriarch and civvy are better tactical knives -BS - they are just parroting spydercos opinion IMHO - i have a SIFU and a Mat and if i had to choose 1 if the chips were down, would take the SIFU no questions asked - its kinda the .45ACP of the knife world IMHO - i cant belive that if ya could handle both, ya would choose ANYTHING over the SIFU.......they talk about the magical slicing ability of the mat, let me tell ya the SIFU can do some slicing too - NO WAY i would choose the mat, civvy, harpy, etc over the SIFU - best damn fightin knife there is bar none IMHO........

i'm a believer..........

I just wanted to say, as a spyderco addict and a guy who has a rekat knife on order that the civilian and matriarch are specialized designs and you will find very few people claiming that they are better than the Sifu for defense. Didn't want to argue with you, but I didn't want spyderco users to be portrayed in that way.

hey meant only i specific guy (or maybe 2) not spydie owners in general - hey i got a spydie or 2 myself - my only point is that IMHO when i have the 2 knives in front of me i would choose the sifu over the mat (or the civvy) just because its bigger and has a stabbing capability - and i'm not a knife fighting expert, but i would rather have the bigger knife.......just my .o2 worth...

The Spydie guys have a certain point- there exists no better slasher (that I know of) than a Civilian. I would never want to face the business end of one of those, even with my Sifu :)

But the Sifu wins out because it also has a certain point - at the tip of the blade!

I haven't seen a better fighting folder than the Sifu, anywhere, ever. That's why I carry one.

also IMHO because of the weight of the SIFU i would think it would be a good slaher too.....

i almost hate ot go on and on about the SIFU but darn it it is 1 helluva knife IMHO - this 1 has replaced my 'ol BM AFCK which i have used as my EDC for a while, which is saying something, i really like that knife - but the SIFU is just so much better for my needs its unbelievable - 1 helluva knife and the D2 steel really seems to be the thing, really holds an edge - just really like the knife (as i'm sure ya'll can tell lol)

Hmm...Civilian...Sifu...Why only carry one. Tote 'em both and really give the BG something to wet his pants over. Maybe the Civilian in a slick neck sheath, with the Spydie hole you can draw and open in the same motion. The Sifu in a strong-side belt sheath for a quick inertia opening that presents the blade right where you need it to be for a quick #1 or #3.
