Can some one tell me how they finish white linen micarta. I just finished one down to 600 grit, and when I put it to the buffer it got all discolored. Just finished getting it back to white again, and hate to have to do it a third time.

Thanks

It's best to just sand to to the highest grit you want to use. If you want a high gloss use Rennaissance wax. Problem with a buffer is if the buffing wheel hits pins, guard or other hardware, especially brass, it will blacken your handle material. You could try wiping the handle down with something like Goof Off or acetone to remove the discoloration. It may or may not help. The only handles I buff are stag, bone or horn.

I cut it off the handle and used something else. I could not keep it clean enough to look good. I was afraid the customer would have the same problem.
