White Metal?

A recent sale offering by Yangdu included a pen knife which noted that the fittings are "white metal".

I'm familiar with the brass fittings, but what composition is "white metal"?
(Is it nickel-silver?)

One more question though:
The thread indicates that "the prevalent opinion is that it's nickel-silver".
Does anyone know for certain the composition of the white metal?
