I need some White Ivory Paper Micarta , any one know where I may find some ? Bought Ivory Paper from both K&G and Jantz , got the cream colored stuff . My customer wants White . I have wrote Sheffield , waiting for an answer and Tracy has his advertised as aged, that should be more of a yellow in color I think .

Any place I am missing ?

Thanks Jack

The only micarta I've seen that I would say is a true white was linen based
and it came from sheffield years back. Corian would prob be pretty close.

This was countertop material the guy who installed our cabinet doors gave me to try out.

It was 20 times easier to work with than the gummy white micarta (never had that problem with other micarta) I've used in the past.

Smelled HORRIBLE though working with it. Shop stunk for 2 weeks! It looks great though so I'll probably use it again. Didn't get full of black stuff from the buffer. What it did have came right out with some 3m adhesive remover spray once I sanded it to 2000 grit.

That would be corian , I have used it but also fear it breaking or cracking if the knife is dropped . I have dropped pieces and watched it break but I also have used it in knives and dropped them and it survived .

It can be a smooth and beautiful handle material .

Thanks Ken , I do believe what I had came from Sheffield as I have done a lot of business with them . This was white paper not linen , I have been carrying it around for about 6 years .

Yup, I was going to suggest Jephco. He has corian but he also has a similar product called Hi-Macs. You could make your own white paper micarta.

Well the guy got it as a scrap from his work and he said it's made by the Formica company. Not sure if they make corian as well. Anybody know of Formica has asbestos? Or maybe if that's the old stuff. Either way I'm not sure if i want to use it again!

Just ordered some hi-macs in white, blue and camo(what the heck) and the corian in new bone. Can't wait to give them a try!

thanks guys for all the help and suggestions . i4mark , that bone looks interesting .

Thanks again every one .

I vote No on Corian. Learned the hard way when I dropped a beautiful Bowie I loved. It is beautiful, but not practical for a knife. Handle hit a small sharp rock and left a permanent "Star" which could not be ground out. Never used it again.

I'm pretty sure that the artificial ivory that Jepcho sells isn't corian. I know he sells corian on his site(which is maybe what you meant) but I think it's different from the artificial ivory.

I spoke with Jeff(owner of Jepcho) extensively about his artificial ivory at the ICCE show. He said that he's done a good amount of destructive testing on it and it's held up real well. I've personally had to hit it with a hammer and punch and it held up good. There was some minor flaking on the top(no cracks) but I'd like someone to show me any material that could withstand that with out getting marks on it.
