Any suggestions?

I'm looking for a white scaled folder (white micarta, ivory, pearl scales, etc) classy, medium-sized knife, roughly 2.5" to 3.5" blade. I like the look of the Spyderco Kopa in Evrina, but I'm a lefty, and the clip is for righties. Production folder with custom scales may be an option if you have any recommendations.

Really looking for something classic looking that looks like it can really cut, and it needs to be compatible with a lefty.

Budget is $100-$160.

Only two I really know of are the Al Mar Hawk and the Kopa. Would prefer something a little more substantial than the hawk.

Maybe you could find a lock back you like and just have a pimper put some antique paper Micarta or ivory Micarta on it to replace the factory scales. Just a thought. For that matter rebuilding the whole body of the folder is certainly a possibility.

thanks planterz, that's a possibility. i like a clip but it's not neccessary.

a gold class benchmade is a good suggestion.

hmmmm.... I'm wondering about taking a spyderco or benchmade, and getting some custom scales made for it. that might be the way to go...

Is this what you're looking for? Talk to STR, he upgraded my ZDP Caly with Ti liners and Ivory Linen Micarta scales. As you can see, I'm a lefty too.

I've either gotta get a real job, or a ski mask and your address! That knife looks sweeet!

You might look for a Spyderco MOKI Evrina Pocket Knife MK900EV or MK901EV. One's a bit bigger than the other. The smaller one has a 2 1/2" blade. I believe the steel they use for the blade is AUS-8A. The blades are thin and very sharp. They come in both plain and serrated edges. They do not have a pocket clip. But they do have a thumb stud that can be removed and put on the other side for a lefty. The lock is a mid-lock so that should not bother you either. They have the cream-colored evrina scales and IMO they look very classy, I have 3 or 4 myself. They can be a bit hard to find though. There is one of the smaller ones on eBay now with a serrated edge (starting bid at $79.95). Even the smaller one would be a bit more hefty than the Al Mar Hawk.

Take a look and see what you think!

Pick a knife you like and send it to STR. First you should contact him about what it will cost. Then you can decide if the total price is within your budget range. For what you have given for a price guideline you are not likely to get ivory or white MOP.

Moki make some beautiful gentleman's knives with a perfect fit and finish. The pictures below don't even come close to doing these knives justice. (left:Mother of pearl w/apple coral & gold shell inlays. Right:White mother of pearl and black mother of pearl inlays. blade steel-VG-10)

im realizing i'll probably have to be more flexible on the budget to get exactly what I'm looking for.

Try the Mcusta. I have one with white micarta scales and it is very good looking. Plus, it's shaving sharp. About $120 (?) at AG Russell

Here's a classy older Benchmade: PArdue 850S. Can be found used, no pocket clip but a nice little suede pouch.
