Whittled down the collection

I guess I'm a minor league hoarder 'cause I seldom get rid some items, including knives. Besides, my stuff really isn't worth as much to anyone else as it is to me.
 
Its been hard, but I'm currently down to 3, a traditional (EDC), and Pacific Salt (outdoors), and an Opinel (???). I'm planning on keeping it like that for the time being. I really want to make my knives mine. Get to know them in an intimate way. Learn all of their nuances. I tend to enjoy and appreciate them a lot more when I have time (not money) invested in them.
 
I'm with you! Currently I have 2 opinels, 1 case sodbuster, 3 spyderco folders and 4 fixed blades. Planning on selling one of those fixed blades, too.

I think that, as time goes on, I've been zeroing in more and more on what I really, truly like and will use. It's a good feeling and, in a way, kind of a relief. When I own a knife that I have an issue with, it kind of stresses me out. Having a collection where I like all the knives just feels...good.

This is where I am these days. Sold off a bunch and expect to be in the 4 to 5 knife mode - for the time being anyway. I have 2 on the way this week that will make 3 of the possible 5. My old Endura has been feeling lonely :rolleyes:

Yeah well, fancy knives come and go but knives like Enduras and Pacific Salts seem to hang around til the end. Speaking of, I just had the realization that I would like to be buried with my Pacific Salt. Unwashed and still smelling of fish please. :)
 
I just got rid of a bunch of knives myself. I'm down to two folders, three fixed blades that I made myself, a tramontima machete, and six or seven other misc. knives that were given to me as gifts, or inherited from my grandpa when he passed away three years ago.
