Whittler blade uses?

Stockmans the best. I find the smaller blades on a whittler to be a bit on the weak side. Maybe smaller is the right word.

After seeing the work done and looking at the Case, I think I'll eat my words now:foot:

Looks like the thin blades may be an advantage in whittling.

Thin blades are an advantage in cutting most things. The thinner the blade, the less force is expended on pushing the material apart to get the blade through. They don't make good prying tools though. You also have to learn to keep the blade straight in a cut since they don't handle twisting or lateral loading as well as a thicker blade.

For me and my uses I can use my whittlers the same as the stockman. The blades are just in a different arrangement and as mentioned thinner which I prefer. I do need to mention both of my whittlers have main spear blades verses clip blades.

Despite liking stockmans over whittlers I do have a soft spot for them. I 'liked them for a long time and this one especially. for a knife this old it has zero blade play and is as smooth as silk and walks and talks like the best of them. I think the manicure blade would be helpful in whittling too.
