Whittler Buck

I agree David. I tried with the main clip, for me that was impossible and dangerous. A spey works kinda, sorta and a pen works decently for details - the Sheepfoot was by far the easiest to use. OH

Aren’t you referring to carving. I all ways thought whittling was when you whittled a small branch down down down to finally have a tooth pick to get some meat out between your teeth.
I could be wrong?

The way I see it, if it is made with a knife, and particularly a pocket knife, the terms whittling and carving can be used interchangeably.
So for instance I could say. I whittled some ducks, or I carved some ducks.

However when I start using tools such as chisels, planes, rasps ect., it is no longer whittled, it is carved. That's how I define the them. Doesn't mean I'm right.

O.B.

Whittle is to make something, usually wood, little or to destroy by cutting small shavings, parsings or pieces. It gives reference to destruction, down sizing or reducing in size and carving. It also references other things like financial, business practices or an oppositions lead.
Carving can be wood, metal or about any material but also references similar to whittle. Lol.
I always thought of whittling as just cutting a stick down in size or just for something to do like fidget. Carving to me was making a shape or intended object like a horse or a flute.
