Just out of curiousity, who all bought a SWICK? I still use mine daily, and love the HELL out of it! I hope they are selling well (are they, Sal?), because I'd love to pick up another eventually.

I've got one:cool:

Trying to pick up another one too.

I hear they're not being well received. Only a handful of us ever talk about it at all.

Doesn't look like it's going to be regular production:(

I bought one because I've been hungering for a Spyderco neck knife that wasn't recurved. I got it, I like it, I don't wear it every day because it's a bit too expensive to be a constant user and it's a bit bigger than I'm comfortable with at this point.

Also, I wish it were done in H-1 steel because I have noticed that after showering, moisture stays in the sheath and it took only half a day for a bit of rust to appear (the kind that could be wiped off with some Break Free, though). I want a necker that is really proof against rust.

I also would really like Spyderco to come out with a conventional grind (not chisel) neck knife about the size and weight of a CRKT Neck P.E.C.K. That would be ideal.

The SWICK isn't chisel ground though:confused: Looks to be double flat ground.

Though I'm with you on the H-1. I'd love this in H-1.

Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to imply that the Swick is chisel ground. I'm quite glad it is not. I meant that if they come out with an economy-priced neck knife akin to the CRKT Neck P.E.C.K., which is chisel-ground, I would hope they would do it with a conventional grind.

By the way, just days ago, I finally took a good look at my Neck P.E.C.K., realized that in spite of being chisel-ground the blade is actually geometrically symmetrical on both front and back, so I endeavored to MAKE it conventional ground, and it worked out quite well! So now the darned thing CUTS STRAIGHT! (That's a large part of why I dislike chisel grind -- it cuts crooked! That, and sharpening issues...)

Have swick, will travel ! i have one and i really like it, much better then the spot.

have 1, like it a lot. nice pocket-sized fxd blade, secure handle - everybody should want one !

Have two and am going to get another today. Excellent knife, only 480 made. Another Spyderco collectable. Has anyone found a j clip for carrying IWB. My Swick is one of my favorite Spyderco knives, I use it daily, it holds an edge well, and is easy to resharpen.

Well, considering that I ground a choil into the base of the blade of my Swick, and sharpened it right away out of the box, I doubt mine will have much collector value... But I don't buy things for that, anyway. I did when I collected comics, but even then I was a reader first, a collector second.

Nothing wrong with that, mine has opened more boxes than I can count, so that kills my collector value too;)

I just want to have a couple SWICKs, and cord wrap them all in different colors, so I can choose a color to suit my mood, instead of having to unwrap and rewrap it:cool:

How well does it come out when you cord-wrap a skeletonized handle? I have not tried it. (I'm the guy who should: I have about 12 different color spools of paracord to play with!)

I got a Swick as soon as Newgraham had them. I've been meaning to replace the SPOT with it on my backpack strap, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

I got one. In my opinion, this is a purely defensive knife, so It doesen't need to be made in high-grade, expensive steel. I won't use it for daily chores, so I'll never have to sharpen it. What I am trying to say is, Spyderco could make it in aus-8, and bring the price down. They would then sell a lot better that way.

Not my best work, but looks pretty nice.

This is the same knife, but the first color.

It cord wraps well, but I find that I prefer to not to remove the inside cords. They add a little bulk to the handle which makes it pretty comfortable to hold.

Still haven't found the "right" way to wrap it yet though. Perhaps the next color change I'll finally figure it out. You'll notice both colors are wrapped differently. I'm still experimenting.

Well yes, it could be a purely defensive knife, but this thing excels at utility as well, which is what mine gets used for. I've been using it for who knows how long now, and I still have yet to sharpen it:eek:

I don't think it's the price that's hurting sales. The Micarta handled SPOT was the exact same price. You're getting a "better" steel for the same price.

I believe Sal said on the other forum that neck knives seem to be popular only among knife knuts, and not the general public. So sales for the SWICK will likely be only to knife knuts.

Noob question. Can someone explain the neck knife concept? I've seen the knife photos, but I can't picture how it's used. Do you reach up and under to draw it? How do you keep from performing accidental appendectomies?

Thanks,
Aram
