Mine arrived yesterday afternoon. My first impressions are favorable. The knife is lighter, and thinner than I thought it would be, yet it is still hand filling and the handle ranks right up there with the KFF as one of the best. The lockup is as good as the Sebenza's I had which is saying a WHOLE lot. The locking bar comes over to cover about 1/3 to 1/2 of the blade tang and has just enough stick to it to let you know it is secure but not enough to hinder the unlocking process. There is no wobble either horizontally or vertically. The action is very, very smooth and closing the blade results in the last 1/2 inch just "sucking" the blade in to the handle! I have mine tightened down fairly tight yet it still just seems to glide open. The handfittting done on each of these knives shows in the quality you receive. So far so good, now comes the blade. The blade is made of 440C-OS steel with the OS being Our Specs. 440C steel is a good steel and has been in use for a long time. I had some knives in the mid to late 80's by Warren Osborne, before the art knives, that were made from 440C and they were excellent knives. I figure if anyoine can get the good out of 440C it is going to be Darrel! The coating is very even in appearance and has a rough texture, I guess time will tell on it. The blade shape is .........well, it is............sorta funky looking. It is a cross between a spearpoint and a droppoint. I would much prefer a clip/bowie point myself but can live with this and can actually see that it will be a useful shape.
The one I got has the G-10 inserts and these stick out approx. 1/32" but do give your hand a good purchase. The pocket clip comes for point down carry but holes are predrilled and have the screws in them for point up carry.
All in all a good knife and I expect mine will see a lot of outdoors use as I work around the house and in the yard.
