Who are the best knife steel distributors?

Since no one seems to want to mention it... I would go with Aldo.
 
Well where are you located? There may be a decent distributer near by you that will save on shipping.

I've used flatground.com for O1 and A2 and Enco for O1 and been happy with both. But I won't bug from anyone other than Aldo ever again. Aldo beats everyone's prices and is a HOOT to talk to on the phone. Just have a little bit of time set aside to place your order. He is fun to talk to. His customer service is second to none. :) If you don't see something you want on his website, call and ask about it. He hasn't listed O1 yet, but he has a bunch of it. He will do about anything for you.
 
I buy a lot of steel from Alpha Knife Supply. They have the hard to find stuff and are generally wonderful folks.
 
I was buying 1095 from jantz, when I made a normal order, and 52100 from mcmaster carr, as they had it in smaller round bars that I can work by hand. but then everyone here said such great things about aldo. he does have great prices, fast shipping for what it is, and most importantly, he has the sizes of steel that I want at good prices. I can get 1/4" x 1" 52100 straight from him instead of having to forge it down from round bars.

Ive never talked to him, as I placed my order over the net, but I will call next time and say hi.

he is also quite a bit cheaper than either jantz or mcmaster carr. { his price on steel is cheaper, I should have said}

I like them both. Kelly does or did free shipping on blade steel orders over $100. E- mail him and he'll send you a price sheet via e-mail. He also sells powdered steel for Damascus, quench oils, and is always quick to ship.

Lastly, I encourage you to buy from knife guys like Aldo, Chuck, and Kelly. Keep em in business so they are here forever!

Well I was going to say this guy named Aldo up in New Jersey, but I think he has been mentioned. So I will just take his advice and go out to the shop. Thanks for being our steel go to guy Aldo.
