Who are the best reviewers on Bladeforums?

I think motivations vary. They range from wanting attention (some of the knife-breaking "destruction test" stuff comes to mind) to genuinely wanting to help and inform others. First and foremost, though, is the fact that it's simply fun to evaluate something, to define why you like it or don't, and to distill your thoughts about those things. I enjoy unlocking the puzzle, so to speak, of why something does or does not do its stated, designed task, and I enjoy knowing that others will benefit from that evaluation.

Nice answer Phil - thanks.

Confederate (good pics, impartial and practical), Nozh2002 (impartial, full of data and very in-depth) and Sharp Phil (looking at his website there is a good range of not typically review blades and he has good english).

Another reviewer I like in Bladeforums is Noss but not many like him but I like him for his hardcore tests.

Top of my head. . .

Buzzbait: "meat and potatoes" approach without sacrificing relevant info.

JNieporte: simple and straightforward, not overly technical

Thought I'd ressurect this one for another worthy mention -

Mistwalker: If you're looking for a something with a "prepared survival" (not so much hard-core survival) skills bent AND appropriately backed-up with pics, Mist is the man!

This is a great thread. Maybe I'll be able to learn more by checking out those listed here. :D
JNieporte's review are my favorites. He reviews a lot of high quality low cost knives that are right up my alley. Maybe its just me but I'm not the kind of person who will pay $400 for a knife when there are tons of great options out there for under $100, and often under $50 and they can do anything a very expensive custom can do.
I'm with you in this opinion. Most people will be less afraid to actually use and work with a sub $400 knife.
I prefer value for my buck. ;)

I'll second that. Mistwalker's does a great job with providing clear pics that illustrate the point he's making

Mistwalker easily makes my No1 but I love seeing Horndog's reviews as well....Vic rocks !!!!:D:thumbup:

Both Horndog and Mistwalker provide excellent reviews.
- They have good useful information. I never have reason to doubt anything that either of them writes.
- The information is presented well. Easy to understand, easy to get the point.
- Both provide good pictures, though Mistwalker probably gets the nod on that one. His are outstanding.

I make a point to stop and read any review that either writes, because I know I will learn something.

Haven't seen Ankerson on the list yet. I have always appreciated Jim's reviews and chopping videos. Though I believe his sharpening videos to be some of the best I've seen. Excellent thread idea to the OP. There are many people worthy of mention in my opinion.

Thanks for the Shout Out. :)

I have been lazy here lately on making videos, it has been pretty cold here and rainy etc lately though. :o

I do have a few Forum reviews to do also here soon.

I have 2 videos uploading today, Para 2 and Gayle Bradley.

I like most of the reviewers who post in the WSS. Mistwalker is the first that comes to mind, but there are many more than that. Horn Dog, KGD when he posts one up are always good. Joe's are also top of the line.

I haven't been doing too many vids as of late because I haven't scored any new knives or gear for the last several months. I should have a review of a custom CNC machined billet brass lighter in approx 2 weeks.
