Lots of great makers with high precision.
Some of you have seen a lot more folders than I have, but from what I have seen . . . I think the OP pretty much nailed the top of the stack from the get-go.

Another mention for Ken Onion. I've spent many days at his shop, some of them learning about his methods of folding knife design and construction. He lost me at "basic trig" and proceeded way beyond that... his need is to be able to produce a batch of 100 or 1000 knives of the same model, and be able to swap any part of any of them into another and have it work flawlessly. From what I've seen and heard from him, that's what he does. And, he puts a lot more effort and experience into lock wear characteristics than most I'm aware of.
Having handled some of the customs and mid-techs sitting around there as well, you could pretty much think them open- but no blade play, and a strong detent.
