Every day, I wake up and check that no insects have crawled into my boots.

My CO comes in and gives me orders to do for the day.

The air always smell of burnt tires, the smell of death and dirt everywhere.

I try to bend into my surroundings and make myself a smaller target.

Every day, dozens of people are killed or wounded.

Yeah, I live in NYC...

Knives are part of my daily wear hence I carry a 40 dollar buck crosslock rather then something more... prone to appreciation shall we say. If you had asked about other sharp pointy things...

I guess this explains why the knife exchange is slow these days. We are into using knives more than we are into collecting them.

Not2Sharp-

You made an excellent point. I find myself staring at my box 'O knives and adding up the $ vs. the time I spend carrying them all.

I have a 'poor boy' collection of sorts-my first Swiss Army Knife, a few Old Timers given to me by my dad, a WWII KA-BAR that was my grandfathers, etc.

I can still remember every knife I have ever lost, and shed a tear over them occasionally! The one that hurt the most was having a brand new BM mini-AFCK that my wife had given me for my birthday stolen off my workbench in my Maintenance shop at work! I had left for a cup of coffee and BAM gone (only 2 other people had keys go figure). I've gotten to the point of never carrying more than a $50 knife on me at work at any given time to avoid losing $100 bills.

The long and short of it is this-How many $100 'tactical' folders do I really need (BM AFCK, BM Mini AFCK, BM Spike, Gerber Covert, Spyderco Police)? Only recently I decided I would rather save up the money I would spend on 3 or 4 knives to buy my first custom.

A bit closer to the topic at hand:

I would classify myself as an outdoors user, everyday carry, work carry, poor-boy collector!

I went with #4, but #3 is just as true. The reason is I've been a daily carrier a lot longer than I've been a collector. There may come a day when adding to my collection won't be as important, but I'll still have a knife on me. More importantly I'll still be friends with a lot of the folks I've met here.

Daily ware for me also been carring since i was about ten years old when i was a cub scout. i dont leave home without my knives peroid! At least one tactical fixed blade, and one small utility blade. I sometimes carry my JSP credit card & Omega 3 check book with knife also when tending to shopping needs. :D

I'll take the Fifth.

Perhaps I will be more able to answer after I'm done drinking.

:D

Seriously, I fit into several of your poll categories and can not just single out one of your categories. So I decline to be polled.
